The excitement is mounting as Longford’s elite swimmer Darragh Greene gets set for the huge honour of representing Ireland in the Breaststroke leg of the 4 x 100m Medley Relay at the Paris Olympics.
The semi-final heat is scheduled for this Saturday (3 August), 11.33am (IRL) start, and the other members of the Medley Relay team are Shane Ryan (Freestyle), Conor Ferguson (Backstroke) and Max McCusker (Butterfly).
Speaking in competing for his country in Paris, the two-time Olympian Greene said: “You can’t beat it, it’s one of the main reasons we do this sport and train so hard, it’s huge to represent your country and anything after that is a bonus.”
