Irish Boxing Champion Martin Nevin pictured with his proud father Mickey at the Monkstown Cup Tournament in Dublin on Sunday
Highly promising youth boxer Martin Nevin from Longford town has completed a marvellous hat-trick of major titles.
12-year-old Martin, spurred on by his very proud father Mickey, took on boxers from England and other European places to win in the prestigious Monkstown Cup International in Dublin over the weekend and clearly has a very bright future in the sport.
Affiliated to the Olympic Boxing Club in Galway, young Nevin claimed the All-Ireland Youths title in his division in the National Stadium in Dublin back at the beginning of April and went on to win again in another important tournament, the Neilstown Cup in Dublin.
Three titles in the same season is a wonderful achievement for the multi-talented Martin who will now concentrate on playing for the Longford Slashers U-14 gaelic football team during the summer months.
