Darragh Greene (National Centre Dublin) just missed out on a second 2024 National Senior title as he was pipped for Gold in a thrilling 200m Breaststroke Final by Limerick's Eoin Corby (NCD) on the final day of the Irish Open Swimming Championships/Olympic Trials at the National Aquatic Centre in Dublin on Sunday evening last.
The Longford swimming star won the 100m Breaststroke Super Final at the Irish Open Swimming Championships on Friday evening but was denied a magnificent double in a time of 2:11.95 in just losing out to his main rival Corby (2:11.37) in a titanic battle in the 200m Breaststroke decider.
Darragh held off ESB’s Jack Kelly (1:00.95) and his NCD teammate Corby (1:01.09) for Gold in a time of 1:00.54 in the 100m Breaststroke Final and all three have achieved the European Aquatics Championships consideration time for the major event in Belgrade, Serbia from June 17th – 23rd.
