Cathaoirleach of Longford County Council, Cllr Garry Murtagh welcomed the funding, saying the projects demonstrated what could be achieved when local groups took practical steps to protect the environment while improving their communities.

He said, “This funding is welcome news for communities right across County Longford. These projects show what can be achieved when local groups take practical steps to protect the environment while strengthening their own areas. I commend the volunteers and organisations involved for their commitment and hard work.”

Chief Executive of Longford County Council, Paddy Mahon said the programme helped communities turn “good ideas into real action” with support from Community Climate Action Officers working through local authorities.

Mr Mahon added, “The Community Climate Action Programme supports communities to turn good ideas into real action. Longford County Council is pleased to support these projects through our Community Climate Action Officers, helping groups to reduce emissions, cut waste and improve local facilities in a sustainable way.”
