John White, Chairman of Streete Parish Park tells me that annual Lotto envelopes are available from himself, Jimmy Brady, Pat Duffy, Mary Mulligan, Mary Fagan, Larry Leslie, Declan Carthy or any committee member at a cost of €50 and this will help the funds and at the same time guarantee your inclusion in every draw for the year. The Complex depends very much on local support which will be greatly appreciated.

We all wish Jim a speedy return to normal health for an enjoyable Christmas. – Well done Jim!

The Ramblers walked from Milltown to the Hill of Laragh and continued along the Royal Canal towpath to end their walk in Ballynacargy on Sunday November 15th. The damp and misty weather prevented the panoramic views from the Hill of Laragh that the Ramblers have enjoyed on previous visits, but the afternoon was unusually mild so the walk was still very enjoyable. A heron spotted in a field beside the canal near the end of the walk provided an extra source of interest. Thank you to Patricia Bruton and Teresa Coloe for the delicious scones and fruit cake in the Church Hall after the walk. On Sunday November 29th the Ramblers will join a charity walk in aid of Casa, the Caring and Sharing Association which supports people with disabilities. Walkers will meet at the Park Hotel in Mullingar at 11am and they will be taken by bus to Coolnahay for the 12km walk back along the Royal Canal to the Hotel. There will be refreshments after the walk and a special Mass of Remembrance at 3.30pm in the Hotel. Please take note of this early start. This year’s Christmas Party will be held in the Hotel Castlepollard on Sunday December 13th. There will be a walk in Castlepollard at 2pm and the Party will begin in the Hotel around 4pm. Donations for the raffle will be very welcome. See www.boherquillramblers.ie
