In light of recent thefts and burglaries, householders, especially those living alone or in isolated areas, are reminded to exercise caution when dealing with unexpected door to door callers, offering goods or services at unrealistically low prices. Do not give any personal information regarding yourself or family, neighbours etc., and if in any doubt, keep your door firmly closed and alert the Gardai, family, neighbours etc. When leaving home, activate alarms if fitted, and secure windows, doors etc. Do not announce on social media if away from home for any length of time.
