Garden Open Day

Garden Open Day at Paddy and Mary Gillooley’s Garden, Mill Road, Drumlish in aid of Carol Galvin Forde Fund on Saturday, 24th May,10am to 6.30pm. Admission optional.

Tidy Towns  

Tuesday evening work continues at 7pm. We have a very busy couple of weeks ahead and need all the help we can get, so please join us if you’re free for an hour or two. Demonstration on how to install a Water Butt, Wednesday 21st May at 11am and Composting Demonstration, Thursday 6.30pm and not 7pm as previously advertised. Both at rear of Parish Hall. 


Clonguish GFC is having a barbeque night on Sunday, 1st June at 9pm at the Complex. Music by Brian Ross and then Pascal, Liz and Davy. Tickets €10. Please support.

Arthritis Ireland

The Longford Branch of Arthritis Ireland are holding a Public Information event in Cooney’s Hotel, Ballymahon on May 22nd at 7pm. Invited speaker is Dr Ausaf Mohammed, Rheumatologist.

Mass Servers training

Fr. McGovern is recruiting new Mass Servers. The first training night will be on Thursday, 22nd at 7pm.

Community Games

Community Games will be held on Monday, 26th May at 6pm at the Clonguish GFC.


Fundraiser Head Shave 30th May Coy’s Bar Longford, starting at 9.30pm in aid of Lauralynn House, Ireland’s only children’s hospice and St. James’s Hospital Foundation. Marion Prendergast and Jo Purkis from Killoe will be shaving their heads to raise money for these very worthy charities.

Karate Club

Due to the elections our class on Monday, 26th May will be held in the Parish Hall. Our usual class will take place from 7-8pm and our grading class will take place from 8-9pm. There will be no class on Thursday 22nd due to unavailability of hall - elections. Our class times are Monday and Thursday 7-8pm in Newtown and Wednesday 7-8pm in Kilglass. New members are always welcome and for further information please contact Sensei Ann Devlin on 087 9248816. If any member has not yet received their new badge and insurance details please let Ann know as soon as possible. Birthday wishes this week - Rian - Kilglass. 


Reminder to all that the annual sponsored walk for Longford Federation takes place on Sunday, 25th May at 3pm and is in aid of Longford Hospice. Sponsorship cards are available from out Sports Officer Olive Quinn. Our pitch and putt competition has been rescheduled for Saturday, 14th June at 10am. Our next meeting will take place on Tuesday, 3rd June at 8.30pm. Teas are Olive Quinn and Sandra Rooney. Competition is an invitation card for our upcoming Longford Federation craft fair, due to take place in July. Why not drop in and see us- new and past members are always welcome.

National Fish & Chips Day

The Irish Traditional Italian Chippers Association has announced that their fifth annual National Fish & Chips Day takes place on Wednesday, 28th May. That day will see all ITICA members throughout Ireland including Macari’s Deli Burger on Ballymahon Street, Longford offer customers half price fish & chips.
