Equestrian success

Well done to Susan Dennigan, (nee McDonald) of Kinard whose skills as a horsewoman were responsible for the early education of Paulank Brockage, winner of the Four Star Badminton Horse Trials in Gloucestershire last weekend. As a four year old the mare spent a season being schooled by Susan, who also campaigned her on the Show jumping circuit.

Polling Day

Voting for Local European and Bye Elections takes place on Friday, 23rd May. Polling stations will open at 7am and close at 10pm.

Inny Anglers

Results of Inny Anglers Lotto draw held on Friday, May 16th for a jackpot of £4,800. Numbers drawn were 4, 8, 12 and 22. There was no jackpot winner. Special draw winners were Zack Murphy and Rosie and Marissa Gilchriest. This week’s draw will take place in Slowey’s for a jackpot of £4,850.


Results of GAA Lotto draw held on Monday, 12th May in Slowey’s for a jackpot of £9,350. Numbers drawn were 5, 7, 16 and 23. There was no jackpot winner. Match three winners of £35 each were Lisa Nulty, Mary Kiernan and Willie Keenan. This week’s draw took place in The Hill, Carrickboy and results will be published next week.


Congratulations to the eighteen boys and girls from Lenamore National School who received the Sacrament of Confirmation in St Mary’s Church Legan on Saturday last. Great credit is due to teachers, parents and community for the beautiful presentation of the Children Church and village.

50/50 Draw

Congratulations to Sean Donohue who was the winner of the Naoi Rath Ré 50/50 draw last week. The prize money was £230.


The May meeting of ICA welcomed a number of new members to the Guild. A talk and presentation on shrubs bedding plants, hanging baskets and window boxes was given by Marie Kiernan of Treel Nurseries and Garden Centre. Marie gave information and hints on all gardening for the season ahead. She also presented a Hanging basket and a Window Box for the Raffle. The winners were Audrey Whelan and Vera Flood. We thank Marie and Kevin for their continued generous support. The Annual Charity Walk takes place this Sunday May 25th starting at the Market Square, Longford at 3.00pm with proceeds going to Longford Hospice Homecare. Non members are very welcome to join us and support this worthy cause. The National AGM is in the Mullingar Park Hotel on this Saturday May 24th .Members attending can register online or on the day at the hotel. Judging for Longford entrants for the brown bread competition will be held in Kenagh Community Centre on Monday 16th June at 7pm.


The Annual Nifty Fifty run took place on Sunday last starting in Legan at 12.30pm. A very large number of scooters and motor bikes took part. Proceeds from the run go to Cancer Research and a total will be available later.

First Holy Communion

First Holy Communion for the boys and girls from Lenamore School will be on Sunday next, May 25th at 11am in St Mary’s Church.
