St Christopher’s Centre, Longford are organising a major fundraiser on Sunday, October 27 starting from Kearney’s Pub, Curraghmore at 2pm. They will be having a family fun day out which will cater for all ages and taste. The programme will include a 5k sponsored walk , a buggie push cycle ride, jogging and running. They are having children’s entertainment afterwards. After the walk you will enjoy a relaxing time in Kearney’s lounge with refreshments and music. Presentation of first prize and draw will be held later in the evening.


Congratulations and best wishes to Joanne Canavan, daughter of Tom and Margaret of Kilcommock, Kenagh and Ian Mooney, Co Meath who were married in Clonard Church on Friday, October 11. Celebrant was Father Tom Barden, bridesmaid was Emma Usher, best man was Simon Mooney. Flower girls were Kara Mooney,Farragh Smith, Katie Townsend, Faye Townsend, Sarah Donlon and mass server was Zoe Mooney. The reception was held in the Park Hotel Mullingar which was attended by a large circle of friends and relatives of the bride and groom. We wish the happy couple many years of wedded bliss.


It’s that time of year again when children get all geared up for the presence of all the evil spirits. A joint effort of the KDD, the Royal Canal Group and Wetlands will be made to have the third annual Halloween party at the island bridge. They will have refreshments sweets and other Halloween fare along with music, bon fire, storytelling and low capacity fire works. All the children are invited to attend from five until seven on Thursday, October 31. Children should be accompanied by an adult.There will also be refreshments for adults. Donations and other items of seasonal fare very welcome. This event depends very much on suitable weather.

Book launch

Kenagh native Paddy McCormack will be having his book launch in Gav’s Bar on this coming Friday night October 18 at 9pm. The book will be launched by Michael Ring, Mayo TD. All are welcome to attend and refreshments will be served. The book is in two parts, the first part relates to his early years on the farm in Derryadd and his part in Kenagh GAA club while the second part deals with his political career in Galway.

Progressive ‘25

Winners in Saint Dominic’s Centre last Thursday night were Billy and William eleven games €70. Tony and May, Michael and Mick 9 games €20 each.Table prizes Peter and Brendan, Peter and Freda €20 each.Raffle Jack Skelly, Freda Connaughton,Tom Dohilly, Barney Kenny, Mike Carroll and Dan Cox all get €10 each.


The numbers drawn in Kenagh GAA Lotto for October 13 were 2, 7, 14, 24. There were no match three winners and the following names were drawn out Michael McCormack, Corina; Kate McCormack, Corina; Aidan Quinn Roscommon and Martin McDermott c/o Sean Canavan all get €20 each.

Keep Fit

There will be keep fit classes in Saint Dominics Centre for the next six weeks starting on Monday, October 14 and will continue every Monday and Thursday night from 8 to 9pm. For further particulars ring Dan on 087 2726657 or Liz on 087 3569749.
