Senior Citizens Mass

Senior Citizens mass will take place in St Sinneach’s Hall Carrickedmond today Wednesday, October 16 at 3pm. All senior citizens from the parish are invited to attend. Refreshments will be served afterwards.


The new badminton season has now started with sessions taking place in Carrickedmond parish hall on Wednesday nights. New members very welcome so do come along and bring your friend. Badminton on Friday night’s at 7pm for 7-11 yr olds and at 8.15pm for 11 years upwards. If there is enough interest badminton for teenagers will take place on Sundays 6-7pm.

Registration fees for the season is as follows. €20 per child, €50 per family (more than 2 children) and €50 per adult. For more information contact Seamus McCormack 087 9646090 or Laura Byrne 087 2289876.

House Stations

The autumn stations in the parish continue for the following areas. Thursday, October 17 in the home of Jim Mulvey for the Ballintubber area. Friday, November 8 in the home of Tom and Bridie Corrigan for the Abbeyderg area. Monday, November 11 at the home of Bernadette Egan for the Morning area.

Folk Group

Practices continue in Carrickedmond church on Wednesday nights at 8pm. New members are very welcome. The next folk mass will be on Sunday, October 27 at 10am mass.

Pioneer Dance

The Longford Regional Pioneer dance will take place on Friday night November 1 in the Rustic Inn Abbeyshrule commencing at 9pm. Music on the night by J&S Sound. Pioneer and non pioneer people are welcome. Tickets are available from Catherine Duff or any committee member.


The Carrickedmond pastoral council will meet on Tuesday night October 22 in the parish house at 8pm. All members please attend.

Longford Toastmasters

Would you like to be more confident at speaking in public and to learn how to improve your communication skills? Longford Toastmasters are looking for new members to join our club. We meet on the 1st and 3rd Thursday of each month in The Longford Arms Hotel from 8.20pm until 10.30pm. Our next meeting takes place on October 17.
