Wedding bells

The marriage took place on 24th of July of Paula Magan, daughter of Mary and Mike to Ciarán MacEoin, son of Mary and Sean, Ballinalee. The wedding ceremony took place in St. Patrick’s Church, Killashee where the beautiful bride was attended by her sisters Alice and Rachel and friend Michelle Corrigan. The bestman was Colin MacEoin and groomsmen were Trevor Murtagh and David Hagan. Flower girl was Katie MacEoin and pageboy was Sean MacEoin. Following the ceremony the happy couple were joined by family and friends in Lough Rynn where they wined, dined and danced the night away. Congratulations to Paula and Ciarán, we wish them both long life and happiness together.

Leaving Cert

Congratulations and well done to all the Leaving Cert students who received their results last week. Good luck to all who are awaiting offers for college places this week.

Best wishes to Teresa Dooner who was one of eight qualifiers selected in the Brown Bread competition held in An Grianan last week. Teresa now goes forward to a ‘Bake off’ in the National All -Ireland Brown Bread competition which will be held at the National Ploughing Championship in Stradbally, Co. Laois next month. We wish her every success.

Community Games

Well done to Emma Nevin who competed in the Art competition at the National finals in Athlone last weekend. Good luck to Clodagh Kiely who is doing the long jump and Annmarie Murphy who is throwing the discus at the National finals next weekend. A church gate collection will be held on Sunday next 23rd in Killashee and Clondra for the local community games group. Your support would be greatly appreciated.

Birthday boy

Congratulations to Dáire Regan, Derryohill who recently celebrated his 18th birthday. We wish Dáire many happy returns.


Fr. Nigel Charles final Mass in St. Patrick’s Church, Killashee will take place on Sunday, 30th August at 10.30am. Everyone is invited to come along to the celebration of Fr. Nigel’s time with us. Mass will be followed by refreshments in the Parochial House.

Harvest Festival

Longford Harvest Festival and Working Field Day takes place on Sunday next 23rd August in Newtowncashel. Admission is €10 with children free and proceeds in aid of St.Christophers Services , Longford.


In the Intermediate championship Killashee St Brigid’s defeated Grattans on a final score of 1-8 to 0-10. Well done to the management and team. Best wishes in the closing stages of the competition. See local press and Facebook for upcoming fixtures involving St Brigid’s teams. On Sunday 23 August St Brigid’s team play Ardagh in Keenan Park in the All County League Division 2. Your support would be appreciated. If anyone has team jerseys could they return them to Eoin Johnson or leave them into Liz Edgeworth. The club would like to congratulate Paula Magan Killashee & Ciaran MacEoin Ballinalee who got married recently.


St Brigid’s GAA lotto was held on Monday, 27 July, the numbers were 6, 25, 28 & 29. There was no Jackpot winner. Winner of the €40 was Brian Kavanagh and the €20 winners were Declan Farrell, Benny McGuinness and Mattie Burke. The next lotto draw for a jackpot of €8060 will be held on Sunday 26 August in The Richmond Inn Clondra.
