Easter Parade

Applications for Strokestown Easter Parade are still open. The Parade takes place in this town on Easter Sunday April 5th and all voluntary groups are free. All commercial floats are 30 euro. Dept of Social Protection Notice.

The Community Welfare Office will close at the end of this month. People from this region who used the Office will now have to travel to Dromod in Co. Leitrim or possibly Strokestown. The Department have stated that anyone who may have difficulty with this decision will be able to contact a special number which will be displayed on public notices in the region shortly. The new time clinic will be Thursdays 2.30pm to 3.30pm in Dromod.

Fr Kevin CD Launch

Fr. Kevin Fallon will launch his CD titled ‘Twice the Catch’ in the Landmark Hotel on Thursday April 9th at 8pm. Doors open at 7pm. Guests on the night Fr. Ray Kelly, Mary Byrne, Sandy Kelly, Charlie McGettigan, Eimer Reynolds and resident band Hotshots. Admission 10 euro in aid of Kilglass Parish Renovation Fund and St. John’s Community Hospital Comfort Fund, Sligo. Tickets available at Music Centre, Longford, Hanly’s Eurospar, Strokestown, Dawn til Dusk, Strokestown and Tighe’s Centra, Strokestown. The Album is of brilliant quality with some beautiful traditional music and some wonderful ballads as well.


The Roscommon Branch of MS Ireland will hold its church gate collection in the region on this Saturday and Sunday 4th and 5th April. Your support is requested.

Thanks Kilglass

We say thanks to the Kilglass GAA Drama Group who performed three excellent One Act Plays in St. Barry’s Centre on Friday night last on behalf of Ballyfeeney National School. A great night was had by all.

We extend sympathy to Mrs Tess Fallon, Carraun, Whitehall and her family on the death of Mrs Josie Horohoe, Samon’s Lane, Ballyleague, (mother of Tess) which occurred recently. Mrs Horohoe was in her 100th year.
