Christmas Market

Will be held this Saturday, November 15th in Currycahill Hall from midday to 4pm in aid of St. Johns Parish Funds. Local hand crafters & bakers will be there with a wide selection of products. There is sure to be something for everyone there!

Set Dancing Classes

Set Dancing classes for Adults commencing on Thursday, 13th November 8pm to 10pm in the Community Centre, Edgeworthstown. Cost €5.00. Any queries contact Shane on: 087-7921362. A good night’s fun assured and bring a friend!

Clonbroney Parish

Pastoral Care Outreach and Suicide Support Group. With regard to the issue of suicide the coordinator of Midlands Living Links, Bernie Carroll, will speak at net weekends masses in the parish on the support and outreach services available to people bereaved by suicide and on raising the awareness for signs of suicide. There will also be a guest speaker, Phil, who will tell of her journey following the death of her son by suicide some years ago. Bernie and Phil will meet people after Mass. Masses are as follows: St. James’ Church, Clonbroney at 7pm on Saturday and Holy Trinity Church, Ballinalee at 11am on Sunday.

Cookery Demonstration

By Multyfarnham Cookery School on Monday, November 24th at 7.30pm in the Thomas Ashe Hall. Admission is €10 and proceeds go towards the Thomas Ashe Hall.


Numbers drawn are 1, 2, 20, 29. One match three winner: Mary and Joe Kelly c/o Murph’s Bar, Longford €60. Jackpot €10,000. Next draw on Monday in Rawle’s at 9pm. This will be taking place again in the coming January. If you wish to take part contact any club official. The same format with teams of five will take place.

Point to point

On Sunday, 16th November, Longford Harriers are holding a point-to-point races on the lands of Barbara and Joe McGreal, Corbeagh. 1st race starts at 12 noon. There are 6 races under national hunt rules and book makers will be present on the day. This is a fantastic opportunity for all locals to see national hunt racing and support the meeting that will hopefully go from strength to strength.

Need a solution for your painful feet or lower back, the Longford branch of Arthritis Ireland invite you to an information event with local Podiatrist Patrick Durkan and also a free consultation with “Step Forward Ireland” starting at 7pm on November 18th in the Family Centre Longford. AGM will be held on the night.


Hardluck to our neighbours Emmet Óg, who were narrowly defeated in Mullingar by Garrycastle on Sunday last. A number of poor refereeing decisions cost them dearly.

Wedding Bells: The wedding took place recently of Niall Brady, son of Peter and Margaret Brady, Kilshrewely and Rachel O’Sullivan of Castletown Geoghegan, Co. Westmeath. The ceremony took place in St. Michael’s Church, Castletown Geoghegan, with celebrant Fr. Bernard Bohan. The maid of honour was Rebecca O’Sullivan and best man was Fergal Brady. All the guests enjoyed a beautiful meal in Middleton Park House, Castletown Geoghegan and danced the night away to the Panoramics. Wishing the happy couple a lifetime of happiness.
