Legan Ballycloghan Community Games committee has been awarded the overall winner in the HSE-Healthy Events Award 2014. This is a huge achievement for a small parish. The award will be presented at the National Area Award Ceremony on Friday 5th December in Limerick. We would like to thank parent’s children and committee for their help throughout the year and a special thanks to Elaine Mitchell for her work on the project and her assistant Aoifa Fox. We would like to extend a special thank you to Brendan Doherty, Steven Donohoe, Fr Brady, Lenamore National School, Joe Fox, Inny Anglers Fishing Club, Legan Sarsfield GAA, Legan BBQ committee, Sean Donohoe, Mag’s Cummins, Colm Ward Water, Dunnes Stores, Katie Doherty, Legan Foróige Club, St Luke’s Hospital, Longford Leader and Photographer Shelly Corcoran and anyone else who helped out in any way. The annual Community Games Gala Awards night was held in Rawle’s Pub, Ballinalee on Friday, 7th November with nominations for Adult and Youth Volunteer Award 2014. Congratulations to Elaine Mitchell who was nominated and won an award on the night. The AGM of Legan Ballycloghan Games for the coming year will take place soon and hopefully there will be a good turnout and the coming year will be as successful as last.
Results of last week’s Inny Anglers Lotto for a jackpot of €6,050. Numbers drawn were 11, 19, 21 and 27. There was no jackpot winner. Special draw winners of €40 each were Maureen Boyce and Bob McGonigle. This week’s draw takes place in The Hill Carrickboy.
Congratulations to Gerry Kelly, Rathowen who was the lucky winner of last week’s 50/50 Naoi Rath Ré Crèche draw. The full proceeds of the draw was donated on the first anniversary of the draw. The prize money was €905.00.
Results of GAA Lotto draw held on Monday, 3rd November in The Hill, Carrickboy for a jackpot of €10,000. Numbers drawn 10, 15, 29 and 30. There was no jackpot winner. Match three winners were G Gilchrist, Larry Bannon, Claire Nugent, Stewart Forster each €25. This week’s draw took place in Mitchell’s and results will be published next week.
Congratulations to Hayley Gannon who graduated from Athlone Institute of Technology with a Batchelor of Science Degree last week. Hayley is daughter of Geraldine and Padraig Gannon, Carrigeen and a past pupil of Lenamore National School and Mercy Convent Ballymahon. We wish her every success in future career.

Congratulations to Carrick/Sarsfield Juvenile team who defeated Clonguish Óg in the B Championship at Pearse Park last weekend. Local players performing were Jack Grzywacz, Jack Nulty, Adam Doherty (2-0), Sean Doyle, Kyle Kenny (1-0), Darragh Gunshinan and Shane Murphy. Well done to all concerned and especially coaches Noel O’Neill and Conor Moran.

Legan ICA will hold their A-annual Christmas Flower arranging demonstration in the GAA Club house on Tuesday, 16th December at 8.00pm. Florist Ann Murphy will demonstrate and all arrangements will be raffled afterwards. A Christmas Cake and Pudding Sale will be held also and all proceeds will go to local Charity.
