ACTIVE AGE: We had a very enjoyable evening at the Active Age party last Monday when up to eighty of our local senior citizens come togther to enjoy a sumptuous meal followed by a variety concert. Great credit is due to all the committee members who worked so hard for several weeks to make the event such a success. We had a top class meal with a choice of either roast beef or turkey and ham followed by desert and a variety of drinks. The entertainment that followed was a great example of the wealth of local talent which exists around the parish. All said and done it was a memorable evening thanks to all concerned.

DEATH:The death has occurred after a short illness at Mullingar Regional hospital of Patsy Doyle Garlandstown Crookedwood Mullingar and formerly of the island Kenagh Patsy was one of a large family who lived near Kenagh village before he emigrated to America about nineteen fifty. He worked in the States for about ten years before he returned to his native heath when he purchased a farm outside Mullingar where he lived ever since and reared his family. Patsy was a very good footballer in his early years having played with Kenagh Moydow and Ballymacormack where he lived before he emigrated. He was buried in Whitehall cemetery after his funeral Mass in the adjoining Church on June 12. There was a good representation from the Kenagh area at his removal and funeral. We offer sincere sympathy to his family, sisters nephews nieces and a large circle of friends from Kenagh and Crookedwood. Incidentally Patsy was one of at least four people who played football for Kenagh club who have died recently.

TIDY TOWNS: Judging should be taking place any day soon. KDDA wish to thank all who supported village maintenance and enhancement in particular all the residents associations. We would ask that the people of the village support us by putting out flowers ,litter control and keeping their own places tidy. Wednesday evening is clean up time from seven to nine pm. Only a small few have come out to support us so far. We need many more committed residents.
