The school is now open three weeks and we are delighted to welcome all staff and students back for the new academic year. We would particularly like to welcome Mr Hanlon, Ms Campbell, Ms Cattigan and Ms O’Reilly who joined the staff this year. Congratulations also to our new Deputy Principal Ms Durkan who took up her post at the start of the year.
Junior Certificate Results
Wednesday, September 11 was a very nervous and exciting morning for the students who were awaiting their Junior Certificate results. In most cases, the nerves turned to joy as they opened the envelopes. Congratulations to all and in particular to Danielle Kane who achieved 11 As in her exams.
This week, the Leaving Certificate students travelled to the RDS for the annual Higher Options display. It provided an opportunity for students to meet with college personnel to find out about the options available to them post Leaving Cert. Thanks to Ms Flannagan for organising this trip.
On Friday, September 6 the TY students, accompanied by Ms McElvaney, travelled to Lilliput outdoor adventure centre. A great day was had by all students.
The entire school population travelled to St Mary’s Parish Church, Granard to celebrate the start of the school year on Tuesday, September 17. Fr Cadam was the chief celebrant. The choir and Cnoc Mhuire Céilí Band added beautifully to the occasion. Many thanks to all concerned.
On Tuesday, September 10 the school had its first Incidental Inspection. The inspector Ms Neary observed a number of classes. In her feedback she was very impressed with the teaching and learning taking place. Well done to all the students and teachers involved.
