KILAFREE CEMETERY FUNDRAISER: Sunday, May 5th, sees the fundraiser Fun Walk in aid of the Kilafree Cemetery Renewal Project. The Committee are seeking to raise funds for ongoing works in Kilafree Cemetery, which has seen great improvements in the last couple of years. The event will commence at 3.00pm on the day, with participants gathering at McCormack’s Lounge at 2.45pm. Sponsorship cards are in circulation, and the organisers would like to see as many people as possible participating on the day.
GARDENING CLUB: Castlepollard Gardening Club are holding their April meeting, and AGM, on Thursday evening next, April 25th, at 8.00pm in the Parish Community Centre, Church Street, Guest speaker on the night will be Colm O’Shea, Head Gardener at Tullynally Castle and Gardens. The competition on the night will be for the best three tulips. The committee are looking forward to a good attendance,with new faces as well as those who have been regulars in the past to avail of gardening tips and advice from guest speakers and other members. All are welcome.

THE LATE MRS. ANNE MARIE FOLEY: The entire local community were saddened to learn of the death on Saturday, April 6th, peacefully, at St. John’s House Hospice, Newry, Co. Down, of Mrs. Anne Marie Foley (nee Connell), Mayne, Coole. The remains reposed at Gilsenan’s Funeral Home, Mullingar, on Monday, April 8th, until removal to the Church of the Immaculate Conception, Coole, that evening. The funeral took place following Requiem Mass at 11.00am on Tuesday, April 9th, with internment afterwards to Mayne Cemetery. The attendance at the removal, Mass and funeral was very large and widely representative of the esteem in which the deceased was held. Anne Marie is survived by her loving children Liam, Padriac and James, their father Liam, her mother Annie, sister Mary, brothers Sean, Brian, Gerry, James and Paul, nephews, nieces, other relatives and friends to whomdeepest sympathy is extended.
