Children’s Christmas Party: Will be held on Sunday 16th December in the ’98 Hall, Ballinamuck from 3pm to 5pm. Entertainment on the day to include - disco, face painting, balloon modelling, treats and refreshments. There will be a special visitor from the North Pole with a sack full of surprises. Visit Santa’s Grotto for Family photograph and present. All welcome for a fun filled afternoon. Admission optional – children must be accompanied by an adult.
Bingo: Bingo continues every Tuesday night in the ’98 Hall Ballinamuck with a weekly prize fund of €1,300. On Tuesday 11th and 18th December there are extra prizes on each page for the Christmas. Also on 18th there is an extra prize of a Hamper with the raffle. There will be a bonus raffle for a Saorview television and a special visitor from the North Pole. So come along and support.
Fireside Tales: Once again Jude Flynn has come up trumps with another magical “Fireside Tales”. This is the 10th issue of the book with stories and tales from around Co. Longford. This issue contains 25 wonderful stories and poems from almost every parish in the county. Of local interest is “A night in the ’98 Bar Ballinamuck”,” Memories of the Land War in Drumlish”, “Tales from Drumlish” and many more interesting stories from Longford North and South. All these stories are told with passion and aplomb rekindling many memories of golden eras gone but not forgotten. We compliment Jude on another wonderful read which is now in all local stores and libraries. We wish him success with his 10th edition and remind everyone this would make a very acceptable Christmas gift invoking many memories laughs and tears. You will simply love to read it.
Baptisms: Emily Ann Kane daughter of Frank and Theresa Barraghmore and Dylan Thomas Garvey son of John and Deirdre Aughadowry were baptised and welcomed into the faith family of the parish last weekend. We congratulate their parents on these happy occasions.
Longford Social Services: The Annual Church Gate collection for County Longford Social Services will be taken up next weekend – 15th/16th December. Your support would be sincerely appreciated. And helps the local community here.
Welcome Home: Welcome home from hospital to Mrs. Ethna Burbage. Mrs. Burbage wishes to thank all the wonderful people who contacted her during her recent hospital stay. Holy Mass will be offered for the intentions of all.
Christmas Lights: - The Crib was blessed after Mass on Saturday night last by Fr. Patsy McDermott, the choir sang a few carols and a large crowd cheered when the lights came on. Thanks to all the men of the Drumlish Tidy Town’s Group who gave freely of their time and energy to get our village lit up for Christmas – and to Damian Mulleady and Philip Rogers for providing the machines to get the cable aloft. Thanks to Noel, Marie, Teresa, Pauline and Gillian for presenting the Crib to their usual high standard – a list of all sponors and donors will be published later.

Community Centre celebrates 25 years: A gala weekend to celebrate the 25year anniversary if the community centre and the gathering 2013 is been organised for the may bank holiday weekend 3rd-5th may 2013 a fun filled entertaining weekend is promised for everyone. there has been a facebook page set up for the event if you could like and share it with family and friends at home and abroad we would be grateful. Any old photos or stories that people may have we would appreciate these all will be minded and gave back these can be dropped into Bridget in the post office.
