Tidy Towns: Well done to the efforts of all the members who are working tirelessly each Monday evening to have the town and its environs looking so well.
Glotto Results: Draw results for week ending 5 August. Numbers drawn were 1, 2, 17 and 20. There was no outright winner. Congratulations to the winners of €30 each. Declan Kiernan Feriskill Granard. Country Markets: The Market trades each Friday morning from 8.30am to 11.00am. with usual supplies of fresh produce and home baking. RTE’s Philip Bromwell filmed at the Market recently and among those interviewed were Margaret Sweeney National Chairperson of Country Markets and a supplier to Granard Country Markets. Among those interviewed were Sandra Bogan supplier who was filmed at her garden preparing the vegetables and eggs for market and Joanne O’Hara customer. Extracts were shown on the 6pm and 9pm news on Bank Holiday Monday 2 August. Well done to all the ladies and gentlemen who have kept the Market going for over 30 years now. It was nice to have a piece of positive reporting from Granard.
Recent Death: Sympathy is extended to Fr. Tomás Flynn C.C. Granard and his family members on the death of their brother Bart Flynn who died last week. May he rest in peace. Sympathy is extended to the family relative and friends of the late Laurence Pearse Daly who died after a brief illness last Thursday 4 August. Pearse who was in 95th year was the longest running Delegate to Longford County Board meetings ever when representing the Colmcille club and he was also a current Vice-President of Longford GAA. Pearse was honoured earlier this year by the Longford Association in Dublin for his dedication to all things associated with North Longford. He was the local correspondent for the North Longford area for over 30 years. His funeral Mass was celebrated in Colmcille Church on Monday followed by burial in adjoining cemetery. May he rest in peace.
Vote for Aaron: Could you please vote for Aaron Blessington – his drawing has made the final of the RTE competition sponsored by Renault of an electric car of the future. The prize is a tour to Delphi Mountain Resort in Connemara for his class including one night’s accommodation activities and food.
