His family neighbours and many friends wish to join with me in congratulating Jimmy Kilkenny Tooma Clone this Friday 3rd June when he will be celebrating his one hundredth birthday and thank him for being the wonderful person he is, a dedicated father and most obliging neighbour and loyal friend.



On Friday 26th May 2011 our local post man Jerry O’Callaghan retired. It was a momentous occasion for Jerry who will be missed by the many friends he had made while doing the post around town and Gorvagh. His PO colleagues in Carrick held a retirement party for Jerry in the Bush Hotel last week where they made a presentation to him in recognition of his good work with an Post and to wish him and his wife Teresa every blessing now and in the future.


The death of Peter Reynolds Stuck Eslin at Sligo General Hospital on 21st May 2011 has caused widespread regret in the community. Pee as we all knew him lost his dear wife a few years ago RIP. A great family man who had a wealth of knowledge about antiques he was a brilliant crafts person loved working outdoors an enjoyed the music and the craic. His removal took place to St Patrick’s Church Mohill on Sunday last where a large number of mourners gathered to sympathise with the family . On Monday Fr Bernard Hogan was celebrant at the requiem mass which was representative of all sections of the community and the beautiful singing by Pee’s sister Mae Malone added to the solemnity of this very sad occasion. We wish to sympathise with his sons daughters sons in law daughters in law grandchildren brother sisters brothers in law sisters in law and all who mourn Pee at this sad time. May he rest in peace.


Her many friends here in Mohill were very saddened on hearing of the death of Lonnie McHugh Main Street who died peacefully on the 16th May at the residence of her son William Dublin just one short month after the death of her beloved daughter Andrea. She was also predeceased by her husband Pat RIP. Lonnie was a very private lady who was a very devoted mother ,gran, sisters and a great neighbour whom it was always a pleasure to visit. We shall all miss her but remember her with great affection. She was cremated at Mount Jerome Crematorium. Her private funeral mass took place in Dublin. Our sympathies are with her son William daughter Jane daughter in law sons in law grandchildren Conor Liam Robert Ashling brothers sister and their extended families. May her dear soul rest in peace.



The congress bell will be in the diocese of Ardagh and Clonmacnois from the 18th - 24th July 2011. At the moment it is planned to have this Eucharistic Congress Bell in Mohill parish for Wednesday 20th July. Coupled with the arrival of the bell there will be a holy hour with Eucharistic adoration in St Patrick’s Church on Wednesday 20th July from 8 to 9pm.



On the 23rd May last the Lotto draw took place in O’Carolan’s Glebe Street. The numbers drawn were 3, 7, 13, 25. There was no jackpot winner. Lucky dip winners are 1st 70 euro Patricia Flynn Gorvagh; 2nd 40 euro Anne Griffin Sligo; 3rd 20 euro Colm McHugh Drumsna.
