The organisers and committee of Streete Parish Park walk/run on Friday evening of last week wish to say a sincere thanks to all who took part, helped or attended this event which is now certain to be an annual run. Funds from the run go towards the upkeep of the walkway and facilities at the park. Many people donated prizes for the raffle, sandwiches etc. and a great evening was had by all. Thanks to Jim Phelan, Fiddlers Green pub who sponsored Ita Tighe and friends to supply music on the night. One hundred entrants took part and results will appear in these notes next week. A special word of appreciation goes to the main organisers, Declan & Tracey Carthy and the many friends who helped out – not forgetting Pat Murphy and Michael Kiernan, main timekeepers.
Now that the days are getting shorter the lights on the walkway are on until just after 9.30pm and all are welcome to use the facility and to buy a Streete Parish Park lotto ticket if you can.

Once again, it is the start of a new bowls season. The county A.G.M. was held recently and the same committee was ratified for another year. The Streete bowls A.G.M. will be held on Tuesday night next. In the past two weeks we have had challenge games against Ardagh and some new players have been introduced. Angela Whelan is making a good recovery following her accident. Both Jimmy Kelly and Eamon Carty are fully recovered after their recent operations and are playing great bowls. New members are always welcome. Just come along any Tuesday night at 8:30 to see what it is all about!
