DIABETES MEETING: The Leitrim branch of diabetes Ireland will hold a public infotmation meeting in the Remada hotel Drumshanbo on Tuesday 23rd October next at 8pm with the question time and coffee will be served. Guest speaker will be Dr Sean Dinneen consultant endocrinlogist university college Galay.

PJ REYNOLDS: There was widespread regret here in Mohill on hearing of the death of PJ Reynolds formerly Lisomadaun and Coolabawn who died in England last week and whose burial will take place in Mohill following mass in St Patricks Church next Saturday 20th October a 10am. Our sympathy is with his wife Bregde sisters sistrs in law nephews nieces and all who mourn PJ on the occasion of his death. May he rest in peace.

MARY ALICE FLANAGAN(MCGOVERN): The death of Alice Flanagan Drumarigna Aughawillan on the 9th October 2012 has caused widespread reget in the whole community.She died peacefully in the company of her loving famly at Sligo General Hospital. Sadly her husband Thomas died many years ago RIP. They wre blessed with a large family, all a credit to Thomas and Alice . She was a wonderful mother neighbour and loyal friend her home was always welcoming where many enjoyed her cuppa and the craic.She will be sadly missed but fondly remembered.The very large attendance at her removal to St patricks Church Aughawillan was a celebration of Alice’s life was indeed testimony to the very high esteem in which she and her family wre held and to whom we offer our deepst sympathy. May she rest in peace.
LEITRIM ICA FEDERATION: ICA members please note that Patricia Gilroy is appealing to all knitters - crocheters in Leitrim to get out the wool and knit six inch squares for blankets to keep children warm who are hospitalised. They need to be in pastel acrylic yarn that is washable. All contributions to Patricia in Drumshanbo by end of November. Mossie Whelan will be holding Irish class in Mohill library on Wednesday evenings at 6.30pm. The competition for the next federation meeting will be an illustration of an Irish proverb (in Irish and by hand). Mossie is happy to help anyone with this . She has a collection of proverbs too. All guilds are asked try to fill shoe boxes for christmas to be in by the beginning of November. It may be early to think about the festive season but a good beginning is half the work. A date for next years diary Leitrim week will be 8th -14th July.

EXHIBITION IN BALLINAMORE LIBRARY:Captured Song is an exhibition which explores the collecting work of Tom Munnelly (1944 -2007)through his photographs collection and field diary records. This exhibition is a selection of sixty images held at the national Folklore collection represtenting various aspects of Toms Life as a collector .Admission is free and the exhibition will be on display in Balinamore library throughout October.
MARY JOSEPHINE MCGARTY (REYNOLDS): It was with deep regret here in Mohill learned of the death of Josie McGarty wife of the late Frank Hyde Street Mohill who died on the 2nd October 2012 in the tender care of their doctors nurses and staff at the Mater Hospital Dublin.Jocie a native of Drumshanbo has resided in Dublin for the last number of years. Remrmbrring back the yrars when shr livrd hrre at Hyde Sreet she was a lovely lady who was highly respected by all who knew her. Her funeral mass which was in St Josephs Church Drumcondra was representative of all sections of the community who came to sympathise with her loving sons padraig and Dermot,daughters in law Rosie Marie and Judith,grandchildren relatives and all who mourn Josie at this sad time. May she rest in peace.
SYMPATHY: Her many friends here in Mohill wish to join with me in smpathising with Mrs Nancy Andrews (sweeney) on the death of her husband Kieran Andrews Drumcondra,Dublin whose death last month has causd widespread regret to Nancy their children and all who grieve for Kieran on the very sad news of his death. His burial took place in Dublin following rquiem mass which was a celebration of Kieran’s life and was very largely attended by family and frirnds.Our sympathies are also with his sister in law here in Mohill Mrs Paul McKeown and family.
