Baby Aine fundraiser
Last Friday, February 27th, saw the primary fundraiser for little baby, Aine Boyhan Galligan, Whitehall, Castlepollard, who suffers from a rare eye condition which requires constant and expensive medical treatment. Ringtown GAA Centre, Whitehall, Castlepollard, was the venue, and the attendance on the night was to full capacity, with people travelling from North Westmeath and surrounding counties to support this very worthy cause. Liam Fagan and a great many guest musicians and performers gave their time on the night, some travelling quite a distance to support the event. The first AGM of the North Westmeath Historical Society takes place next Thursday evening, March 5th, at 8pm in Hotel Castlepollard. All are welcome.
A table quiz in aid of the newly formed Castlepollard branch of the St. Vincent de Paul Society will take place on Friday night next, March 6th, in Hotel Castlepollard, starting at 9.30pm. Fee per table of 4 is 30 euro. Your support for this very worthy cause will be greatly appreciated.
The local Honda 50 Club will be holding their annual Charity Bike run on Easter Sunday, April 5th. Details of the route etc. to follow.
Colmcille Gardening Club are inviting members and potential new members to a talk with Fiann O’Nullain, award winning garden designer, author and TV/Radio broadcaster. Topics covered on the day will include - grow your own vegetables, sustainable gardening and First Aid for garden plants. The event will take place on Saturday afternoon next, March 7th, at 2.30pm in the Community Centre, Aughnacliff, Co. Longford. Admission is 5 euro, including refreshments. All are welcome.

On Monday, March 9th, the proceeds of Bingo at Streete Parish Park will go the Kevin Bell Repatriation Trust. This Trust aims to alleviate the financial hardship of bereaved families repatriating their loved one(s) who have died in sudden or tragic circumstances back to Ireland. Bingo starts at 8.30pm, and your support for this very worthy cause will be greatly appreciated.
