Death of oldest resident

The death has taken place of ninety five years old Mr. Francie Quinn, Drumdiffer. His funeral took place on Friday last following Mass of the Resurrection in St. Mary’s Church, Drumlea to the adjoining cemetery. Sympathy is extended to his wife Mary Ellen, daughter Anne, sons Pat, Seán and Peter, grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousin, other relatives and a large circle of friends. Active Age Snippets

Fifteen members of Drumreilly Active Age Group were in attendance at the weekly meeting on Wednesday last. Among the items on the agenda were the Annual Party to take place on this Wednesday December 17th, the P.P.N. meeting in Ck on Shannon, the Go for Life Grant, the Go for Life meeting in Sligo, which was attended and enjoyed by four of our members. Wreath making was arranged for Sunday last. Over a hundred wreaths have been made by twenty one members. We wish all our associates a Happy and Holy Christmas.

Recalling December 1995

Drumreilly Club was represented in four disciplines of Scór Nua in Ballinaglera Community Centre. They were Instrumental Music, Recitation, Question Time and Figure Dancing. The Figure Dancing team and the Instrumental Music Quintet took first place. The following were the teams: Figure Dancing: Amanda Looby, Linda O’Reilly, Jennifer O’Reilly, Síle Donohoe, Marian Mulligan, Geraldine Mulligan, Mary McKeon and Karl McCartin. The Instrumental Music Quintet was Sheen Denneny, Marian Mulligan, Geraldine Mulligan and Nigel Maguire. The Question Time team was Barry Maxwell, John McKeon and Nathan Maguire.

Recitation: Mary McKeon. The Carrigallen-Drumreilly parishioners rejoiced in the news that the prelatic title had been conferred on Rev. John A. Canon Young P. P. The officers elected at the A.G.M. Drumeela Whist Drive was held in Drumreilly Community Centre Nine local ladies were on the panel of the St. Felim’s Senior team which defeated Lough Allen College They were Monica Quinn, Michelle Holahan, Joanne Holahan, Claire Holahan, Rosaleen Holahan, Evonne Maxwell, Sheena Denneny, Regina McEnroy and Paula McGovern. Drumreilly in search of two vital Senior League points were beaten by Allen Gaels The death took place in the General Hospital of Mr. P.J. (Sonny) Quinn, Castletown Geoghegan, Mullingar and formerly Drumdiffer, and of Mullaghboy-born Miss Anne Carter, daughter of Mrs. Mary Ellen and the late Mr. Eddie Carter, Multyfarnham. R. I. P.

Football challenge

The proceeds of the Drumreilly challenge game in Carrickmakeegan on St. Stephen’s Day at 1.30p.m. will be donated to the Jack and Jill Foundation. The support of all is sought for a worthy cause, and also for a novel game between the present team and a team drawn from the veteran players.
