Longford Sub Aqua Fun Fin Swim

Our Club will hold a Fun Fin Swim on Saturday, 16th August at Richmond Harbour. The aim of the event is to promote the sport of snorkelling and scuba diving and give people the opportunity to try it out in a controlled and fun environment. Each diving club in the Midlands will bring their members, friends and families to take part. We expect to have Diving Clubs from Roscommon, Lanesboro, Mullingar, Leitrim and Athlone to take part as well as other Longford Clubs – Canoe, Swimming & Triathlon. The event will be unique and based around the last lock of the Royal Canal. We expect up to 200 people there on the day with 100 participants taking to the water – made up approx 50:50 adults and children from 12yrs to 60+ years. We are working with Waterways Ireland and the Royal Canal Amenity Group to make this a great success. We are welcoming anyone into the water who wants to give snorkelling a try. It promises to be an enjoyable event and we have organised a BBQ afterwards in McPartlands. As we are continually fundraising for our Search & Rescue Fund our aim in this instance is to have a fun and family orientated afternoon and to give something back to the local community
