Day trip to Dublin
Day Trip to Dublin takes place on Thursday, 21 August, leaving Abbeylara at 9.00am. Stopping at the Visitor Centre in the Phoenix Park, here we will learn all about the Phoenix Park and surrounding areas. We will have our mid morning break here of Tea/Scones. In the afternoon we will be visiting the Guinness Store House at 2.00pm. This tour usually takes 2 and 1/2 hours, and on the sixth floor we will have our complimentary pint of Guinness in the Gravity Bar. The view of Dublin City from this point is breath taking, where you can look over Dublin City from any angle. County Longford Youth Services walk be holding a 5 day Summer Camp in Granard the week of Monday, 11 August from 2.00pm to 5.00pm. The cost is low at €15.00 per young person. This camp is open to young people aged 10 and over. A wonderful week of fun activities, laughter and learning for all concerned is promised. Activities can include soccer games, dodge ball, volleyball, unihoc, arts, drumming workshop, short games, basketball, team- building activities but these activities may vary. An open information evening on the Rainbows Support Programme for children experiencing loss through bereavement or family separation will take place on September 16 at 7.30 pm in Lus na Greine. This is an opportunity for parents, grandparents and others to learn about the benefits of the programme. A 25 Card Game takes place every Friday night in the Bay Horse, Granard at 9.30pm for a bottle of whiskey. Everyone is welcome.

Ardagh and Clonmacnois Diocesan Pilgrimage to Knock takes place on Sunday, 7 September. Ceremonies begin at 2.30 pm with the Anointing of the Sick and Holy Mass will be celebrated at 3pm.
