It is with great sadness that the news of the death of Mr. Tiernan Byrne, Scurlogstown, Trim, Co. Meath at Beacon Hospital has been received in this community. The late Tiernan, only son of Tom and Gemma Byrne, nee Kiernan, formerly Crucklahan, lost a long battle with illness last week. His funeral took place following Mass of the Resurrection in St. Patrick’s Church, Trim followed by cremation in Mount Jerome House on St. Patrick’s Day. Sympathy is extended to his parents, Tom and Gemma, sister Alanna, uncles, aunts, cousins, extended family members and friends. Leaba na naomh go raibh a anam dílis.
U-14 League game
A superior Fenagh side proved too strong for St. Brigid’s in their opening game of the U-14 League on Saturday last.

The Drumreilly Foróige Club members held a successful Table Quiz in Drumreilly Community Centre on Saturday the 8th of March. The members would like extend a sincere thank you to all who supported the fund-raiser, and especially to Maresa McKiernan for acting as quiz master on the night. Congratulations to the winners in both the junior and senior section. The junior section winners were Francis Bohan, Fintan Gallogly, Eugene O’Rourke and Daire McKiernan and the senior section winners were Tommy Connolly, Clodagh Connolly, Cian Connolly and Elizabeth Daly. Thanks also to all the parents who donated spot prizes.

Community Centre. Drumkeerin avoided relegation with a shock Division One 3-7 to 1-5 win over Drumreilly. Goalie Karl Gallogly was the toast of his team mates with a daring 57th minute save that gave Drumreilly a 3-6 to 3-4 winning debut against -----in the U-16 Championship. It was ecstasy followed by agony for Conor Gaffney and his Ballinamore Community School team-mates over the past fortnight. They enjoyed a resounding 1-16 to 0-4 victory over Gortnor Abbey Crossmolina to win the Connacht Schools C Championship final, but were narrowly beaten in the All Ireland semi final by Munster representatives Coláiste Ghobnatain, Ballyvourney on Saturday last.
