Palm Sunday: Sunday last was Palm Sunday commemorating Christ’s messianic entrance into Jerusalem and palm branches were blessed before the weekend Masses. 
It is traditional to place these palms in the home and all outbuildings to keep all bad luck away for the coming year.

Holy Thursday: Mass of the Last Supper and Washing of feet will be celebrated in St. Joseph’s Church, Loughduff at 7 pm and in Our Lady of Lourdes Church, Mullahoran at 8.30pm. After each Mass there will be a procession of Bl. Sacrament to altar of repose a adoration will take palce tp midnight and again until 3 pm on Good Friday. List for rotas are available in both Churches.

Good Friday: Solemn Liturgy at 3 pm in Mullahoran, Stations of the Cross and Holy Communion in Loughduff at 5pm. Trocaire donations are to be returned today – where possible please convert to notes to facilitate those counting. This is a day of fast and abstinence.

Holy Saturday: Easter vigil celebrations in Loughduff at 9pm commencing with blessing of Pascal Fire.

Easter Sunday: 9.30 am Mass in Loughduff and 11 am in Mullahoran.

Easter Holy Water: the custom of bringing home the blessed Easter Water is to be encouraged. Traditionally each room in the house is sprinkled and also the out offices and farm buildings wit family members taking part.

Altar Societies & Cleaners: and other volunteers will meet at 8 pm in both Churches on Wednesday night at 8pm to prepare for Easter, donations of flowers welcome.

Wedding Bells: We extend heartiest congratulations to Joseph Donohoe, Drumcorr and Joanne Casey, who were wed recently in Rockwell College, Tipperary on Saturday 16th, also to Shane Durkin, Glan and Colina Lynch, who were wed in St. Mary’s Church, Ballynarry on the same day. We wish both couples God’s blessing and a long and happy life together.

GFC Lotto: Draw took place in The Hideaway, Cloncovid on Tuesday 19th jackpot €12,900 – no winner. €100 Sean Shiels, Glan; €25 each Sean & Dolores Shiels, Glan; Rose Brady, Corr, Loughduff; Paddy Smith, Ballinagh; Johnny Reilly, c/o P. Tierney.

Football: Supporters were heartened by wins for the two county teams, the U-21’s on Wednesday overcame neighbours Monaghan with local clubman Enda Reilly taking some vital scores. The few hardy annuals who braved the artic conditions in Aughrim on Sunday were well rewarded with an important win over Wicklow. Locally, due to bad weather at the weekend the Div 1 and reserve away games with Kingacourt were cancelled as was the home minor game with Blackwater Gaels.

GFC Table Quiz: Underage quiz in the Parochial Hall on Good Friday 29th March at 8.45 pm, prizes for junior and adult tables. Do come along and support our Club.

Drama: Mullahoran GFC are hosting the hugely popular play “ Victors Dung “ on Sunday April 28th in the Parochial Hall at 8.30pm. Starring  Sea­mus O’Rourke, Char­lie McGuin­ness & Tommy Sharkey, Victor’s Dung is set in a farm yard, com­plete with its very own dung heap, out­door toi­let and rather poor broad­band recep­tion. It is the comic tale of Vic­tor Maguire, a crude, vul­gar, abrupt, un-PC Cavan farmer who gets a sur­prise one Fri­day morn­ing. Tickets are € 10 and will be available from the local shops and committee members.

Summer Time: Clocks go forward 1 hour this weekend. So far it has been a very poor Spring with temperatures at an all time low and flooding in places due to heavy rain last weekend. Hopefully new time will bring most pleasant conditions for farmers who are running out of fodder and gardeners and the children at home for the Easter holidays.

Spring Clean: Killydoon Area Development is holding their 3rd annual Spring Clean from the Co. Bridge down to Killydoon and surrounding areas on Saturday 13th April from 10 to 1pm. Residents on other roads are encouraged to fill a bag or two, bags will be free on the day and a skip will be available. This clean-up has been well supported in recent years and all volunteers are welcome.

Knock Shrine Invitation: Special First annual pilgrimage to Knock celebrating the Year of Faith – all are invited to come and pray on Saturday 20th April 10am – 5 pm.
