Wind Turbine Public Meeting: A public meeting for concerned homeowners in relation to the proposed Wind Turbines development (184 metres high) in Legan and surrounding areas, will be held in the Aurora Hall, Legan on this Thursday April 4th at 8.00pm. Guest speakers will give information on the possible impact on the Environment and well- being of those living in the vicinity.
Car Wash: Ballycloghan Foroige Club is holding a Car Wash on Saturday 6th April at Ballycloghan car park from 10.00 – 5.00pm.Tickets are available in advance or can just arrive and enjoy a cup of tea in the Hall while your car is being washed. Motivational Fitness: Motivational Fitness physical trainer will be running a Boot-Camp style exercise class in the Rustic Inn, Abbeyshrule at 8.00pm starting on the 10th April. The classes can be done outside depending on the weather. Classes will burn calories and unwanted fat. Places are limited so booking is essential. Open Day: Naoi Rath Ré Créche and Childcare is holding an Open Day on Saturday 13th April from 12.00 – 2.00pm. Enrolling now for September 2013 free pre-school year. Walking Club: The walking group will meet in Legan this Saturday April 6th at 10.00pm for their weekly exercise. New members are welcome.
Sympathy: We extend our sincere sympathy to the family and friends of Eilish Tighe, Smithfield Terrace, who passed away on Thursday last after a short illness. Eilish came to live in Legan relatively recently, having lived Rathowen previously. We also extend sympathy to Irene Miller, Lissawarriff on the death of her cousin, Willie Wright, Newtownforbes, who passed away last week. We also extend our deepest sympathy to the Clyne family, Lislea, Kenagh on the death of Philip, who also passed away on Thursday last. Philip was a member of the well- known and highly regarded Clyne family, originally from Ballyglasson, who always retained a great affinity to his native Legan. He played football for Ballycloghan School and underage for Legan Casements. His burial took place on Saturday last following Requiem Mass in Kenagh. May they rest in Peace.
GAA: Results of GAA Lotto draw held on Monday 25th March in Connaughton’s Rathowen for a jackpot of €6,400. Numbers drawn were 10, 13, 15 and 20. There was no jackpot winner. Match three winners of €50 each were Eileen Nulty and Max Nulty. This week’s draw took place on Monday night in Mitchell’s and results will be published next week.
ICA: Lotto draw was held on Wednesday 27th April in Casey’s Carrickboy. Numbers drawn were 15, 20, 27 and 30. There was no jackpot winner. Special draw winners were Catherine Gallagher, Newtowncashel, Bridget Quinn Killoe, Patricia Cox Longford Town each €20. Next draw takes place on Wednesday 10th April for a jackpot of €250. Longford ICA Federation is Sponsoring an entrant in the 2013 Rose of Tralee local competition. Candidates must be from Longford, have a connection with ICA, aged 18 to 27 years on 31st August. Recent Death: We extend our deepest sympathy to Phil Slowey and her family on the death of her sister, Kitty O’Reilly, Belturbet who passed away last week. She was laid to rest on Saturday last in Drumlane Cemetery. May she rest in Peace.
