Church Security

Due to recent Church robberies, the Gardai have requested parishioners to be vigilant and report any suspicious activity.


Temple Street Children’s Hospital is holding their annual collection at Masses on Saturday 12 and Sunday 13 September. As always, all money raised goes directly to Temple Street Children’s Hospital, where it is used to assist in improving the standard of care provided to children there. Please support.

Summer School

Reconnecting with The Golden Age of Medieval Irish Monasteries takes place on Saturday, 12 September in Cluain Cíaráin Centre, Clonmacnois. Cost €25 prebooked or €35 on the day.


The Parents Association are holding a Fundraiser. There are Hampers for raffle in Granard Credit Union and Macken’s Filling Station, Granard. Tickets cost €2 per strip or 3 for €5. Your support would be greatly appreciated.

Irish Heart Foundation

The Irish Heart Foundation Mobile Unit will visit Lus na Greine on September 16 between 10am and 1pm. This is an opportunity to have a free health check and get some valuable information on lifestyle and personal health care.

Parish Draw

An information officer from Co. Longford Citizens Information Service is available at Granard Area Action Group Office Main Street Granard each Thursday morning from 10.30am to 12.30pm. No appointment necessary.

Walk a Mile

On Sunday, 13 September there will be a fundraiser walk in aid of Emily Kane, who has the rare disease Langerhans Cell Histiocytosis. The mile walk will start at Drumlish Community Centre at 12.00pm. Donations are optional and all donations will be greatly appreciated. All donations will be divided between the Histiocytosis Association, St. John’s Ward, Crumlin Hospital and the Children’s Ward Mullingar Hospital. Your support would be very much appreciated.

Volunteer Drivers

The Irish Cancer Society is currently seeking Volunteer Drivers to drive Cancer patients to treatments. St. Christopher’s Services

The Granard Branch of St Christopher’s Services is holding a grand raffle for two tickets for the One Direction’s concert in the 3 Arena in Dublin on Sunday 18 October. Raffle tickets cost €5.00 each and can be purchased from Super Value, Granard, or any committee member. The raffle will be drawn at a function at John V Donohue’s on 19 September when there will also be other prizes. Hope you will give this great event your support.


Takes place every Wednesday night at 8.45pm in the Community Centre Granard. Proceeds go towards St. Mary’s Granard and Abbeylara GAA Clubs. Jackpot now stands at €20,000 in 42 numbers; there is a second Jackpot of €2,400 in 46 numbers, come along early to avoid the rush. Seats are limited so come along early and enjoy the fun. Strictly Come Dancing

Takes place in the Park House Hotel on Friday 18, Saturday 19 and Sunday 20 September in aid of Longford Palliative Care and Mostrim Community Games. 26 of fine men and women form the town are taking to the stage to show off their new dancing skills. Friday and Saturday night shows are sold out and there are only a few tickets left for Sunday night. Tickets cost €15 each, so if you want to see the best shown in town, Contact Majella on 087 7207880. This is a “ticket only” event and you cannot pay on the door. So hurry while tickets last!!
