Tom Dunphy

This year marks the 40th anniversary of Tom Dumphy’s death. Tom was a big name on the entertainment scene at that time and was on his way to the “Mary from Dungloe” festival when he was fatally injured in a car accident at the townland of Annaduff on the old N4 (beside Masonite). So on Friday July 31st an open air Mass will be held at the site of Tom’s memorial at 3pm with chief celebrant Fr Brian Darcy afterwards there will be a function at the Lough Allen Hotel Drumshambo with music by The Dave Moynihan Band from Co. Wexford with guest artists Brendan Boyer, Fr Brian Darcy, Jimmy Magee and former members of the Royal Showband, Emerald Storm along with local artists.

Wedding Bells

We extend our congratulations to Cliona Ward, Gortinty and Derek Kelleher, Gortletteragh who were married in St. Mary’s Church, Annaduff on Saturday last with their reception in Glasson Golf Hotel. We wish you health and happiness for the future.


We extend our condolences to the family and friends of the late Eddie McNabola, Lisnagea, Kilnagross who passed away on Wednesday last at Sligo General Hospital. Eddie was laid to rest in Mohill cemetery on Saturday last. May he Rest in Peace.

New baby

We extend our congratulations to Trevor and Michelle Howard, Grace Court on the birth of their first baby, a girl to be named Éabhín, born at Sligo General Hospital on Friday last to the delight of Cloonturk grandparents Michael and Finnoula. We wish you health and happiness for the future.

Clothes collection

Bornacoola GAA are holding a clothes collection on Saturday 11th July from 11am - 1pm. St St John’s Heritage Club

St John’s Heritage Group Drumshanbo 3rd Annual Fundraiser will take place on 12th July from the grounds of the Mayflower Community Centre. There will be a 50km cycle or 10km family cycle at 12 noon. If you prefer walking there is a 5km family walk or a 10km walk starting at 12.30pm. Contact Tony on 086 8168928 for further information. All proceeds to the St. Johns Church Restoration Fund and the Patient Comfort Fund, St. Patricks Hospital.


Annaduff’s division 4 team achieved promotion and a Divisional final place with a hard earned two point win over Melvin Gaels in Kinlough on Sunday winning by 1-8 to 1-6. The Gaels had the advantage of a strong wind in the first half. Joe Cox opened Annaduff’s scoring with a point. Melvin Gaels replied with two points and a goal to lead by 1-2 to 0-1 after 24 minutes. Brendan Lynch got an Annaduff goal in the 26th minute, Joe Cox added a point with the Gaels getting a point before half time. Annaduff got the first four points in the second half from Gavin O’Brien (2) and Eoin Gill (2). Melvin Gaels got the next point to leave the minimum between the sides. Joe Cox added a point followed by a Gaels point with Eoin Gill finishing the scoring with a point.


At the draw held in Taylor’s, Drumsna, there was no Jackpot winner. The numbers drawn were: 14, 16, 23, 24. The €50 winner was Helen Toolan. The €25 winners were Joanne Faughnan, Gerry Faughnan, Tessie McLoughlin, Duncan Wynne. The next draw takes place on Sunday night next in Cox’s Steakhouse, Dromod with a Jackpot of €2,700

Computer training

The Longford VTOS programme is now recruiting. It offers full time business and computer training free of charge. To qualify you must be over 21 and in receipt of a social welfare payment. If you are interested contact Maeve Madden, VTOS Co-ordinator at 087 2050589.

Strictly Come Dancing

Annaduff G.A.A are delighted to announce that Strictly Come Dancing is coming to the Parish later on this year. During the coming months, we will be recruiting dancers who do not need any experience in dance. Participants will then undergo intensive preparatory programme with experienced instructors during the autumn months.
