Irish Blood Transfusion Service mobile unit next visit to St Brigid’s Community Centre, Louch Gowna is on Monday 27th and Tuesday 28th of April next from 4.30pm to 8pm. Help ensure essential blood supplies are always available by giving blood regularly. It is important that we all remember that many patients in hospitals need our blood and this need never ceases.

The death has occurred of Brian Drake, (Harrow, London and late of Ballinulty, Dring, Co. Longford), 6th April 2015. He will be sadly missed and remembered with love by his family, wife Bernadette, daughters Emma and Brenna, sisters Margaret (Corcoran, Newtownforbes), Helen (Brady, Loughduff), Ann (Shanley, Longford), brothers Padraig (London) and Noel (Ballinulty), nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Removal on Thursday, 23rd April to arrive at St Mary’s Church, Granard for Mass of the Resurrection at 12 noon, interment afterwards in Granardkille Cemetery. To his family and friends, we offer our sincere sympathy. RIP.

A word of thanks

Niamh Mulligan and Michelle Farrell would just like to extend their appreciation to everyone who turned up to participate in their table quiz which was held in Farrell’s Bar, Ballinalee last Saturday night which was a very successful night. They would also like to thank all those who donated raffle prizes, bought raffle tickets, those who couldn’t come but donated previously and anyone who helped out in any way. They would also like to thank Farrells Bar and also David Reynolds for being a fantastic MC on the night. The girls will be volunteering with the Global Medical and Public Health Brigade this coming June in Honduras and will be continuing their fundraising efforts in the coming weeks with another night planned for May the 9th in Creegans, Bunlahy.

Tractor run

Moatefarrel Vintage Club will host a Tractor Run in aid of Motor Neurone Disease on Sunday next, April 26th with registration at Rawle’s Pub in Ballinalee starting at 10am. A special feature on the day will be the attendance of Harry’s Heroes who are the All Ireland Tractor Rebuilding Champions and they will give a demonstration at Rawle’s Pub between 4-00 and 4-300pm and this is something not to be missed. On the move

Granard country markets wish to announce to all their customers and friends that from this Friday April 24th the market will be held in The Motte Project building opposite Kearney’s garage on the Dublin road. All the usual bread, cakes,country fresh eggs, crafts and firewood will be available each Friday morning from 8-30 to 11-00am and there will be plenty of good parking and also free delivery to all town customers.
