St Valentine’s day
This Saturday (14th February) is St Valentine’s Day when “Love is in the Air†and all the men will be buying Flowers and Chocolates for their loved ones, treating them to romantic meals etc. Valentine was a Priest who secretly married young couples even though it was against the law at that time. The Emperor was at war and thought unmarried men would fight better than those who were married. In the year 269 AD Valentine was caught, imprisoned and eventually beheaded for his belief’s.

Dog’s: We have received numerous complaints from members of the public with regard to Dogs fouling the footpaths around the town. Most of these comments are unprintable as people are outraged at this and feel that dogs should be kept under control. With all the work being done each year to improve our position in the Tidy Towns Competition it is sad to see the footpaths so dirty. We appeal to Dog Owners to please, please take responsibility for your pet and keep our town clean and tidy.
