Two pupils from sixth class in Drumlea N.S. will receive the sacrament of Confirmation on this Wednesday, May 7th in St. Mary’s Church, Carrigallen. They are Oníosa Mimna, daughter of Tomás and Rosie Mimna, Drumshangore and Megan Lavin, daughter of Paul and Elaine Lavin, Corrawallen.

Death in the U.S

The death took place on April 16th 2014 of Mr. Brian O’Rourke, son of Michael and Margaret O’Rourke, Riverdale Ave., New York. His funeral took place on Tuesday, April 22nd following Mass of Christian Burial in St. Margaret of Cortona Church. Sympathy is extended to his parents, his sisters Maureen and Eileen and his many relatives who include his uncle Fr. Kevin, aunt Peggy Gilgunn and her family, Manorhamilton, his aunt in law Pauline and cousins Margaret, Geraldine, Séamus and Kevin, Drumshangore. Faoi chúmhdach na naingeal go raibh a anam uasal.

G.A.A. fundraiser

Drumreilly G.A.A. Club is organising a 50km for Sunday, 22nd of June. Those interested are asked to contact Michael McGirl at 086-3615283.

Community Centre A.G.M.

The annual general meeting of Drumreilly Community Centre Committee will be held in the meeting room on Monday, May 19th at 9pm.

Recalling May 1992

The following received the sacrament of Confirmation in Arva Church from Dr. Francis McKiernan R.I.P.: Róisín Beirne, Susan McGovern, Monica Quinn, Sandra Smith, Eilish McEnroy, Paula McGovern, Barry Maxwell, Niall Gallogly, Anthony Mimna and Tony Lunney. The following officers were elected at the A.G.M of Drumreilly Community Centre: Chairman: Pat Conefrey; Secretary: Bridie Mulligan; Treasurers; Pat Gallogly and Charlie McCartin; After staging a second half comeback Drumlea N.S. team shared the points with Aughnasheelin. The team was Barry Maxwell, (1-1), Pat Gannon, Karl Gallogly, Raymond Holahan, Michael McGirl, Tony Lunney (1-4), Niall Gallogly (0-1), John McKeon (0-2), Declan Maxwell (0-2), James Holahan, and Anthony Mimna. Drumreilly booked their way to the U-16 Rural Championship final with a 2-11 to 2-3 victory over Carrigallen and a 0-16 to 2-5 win in a replay against Drumkeerin following a 1-11 all draw. against Carrigallen was Denis Smith, Seán Mitchell, Francis Flynn, Gene Connolly, Niall Bohan, Declan McCauley, Martin Flynn (0-1), Thomas Connolly (0-2), Connell McGovern (0-3), Noel Maguire (0-1), Shane Maguire (1-3), Paul Bohan (0-1), Enda Beirne. Sub used: Ciaran Holahan. Five goals and two points hero Frank Holahan was Drumreilly’s hero when they defeated Glencar/ Manorhamilton by 5-8 to 1-13 in the Senior League. The following were among the winners in the Ballinamore Area Community Art Competition final: Eilish McEnroy (1st inU-14), Regina McEnroy (1st in U-16), John McKeon, Drumlea (1st in U-12), Raymond Holahan (2nd in U-14) and Niall Gallogly (3rd in U-14). Lotto draw

The following are the results of the G.A.A. Lotto draw held on April 23rd. The numbers drawn were 8, 9, 10 and 18. The following were the cash winners: Mattie Fee, Prior’s, Barry Maxwell, Danny Maguire, Breda McGoldrick, Declan Flanagan, and Mary Creamer.

Division 5 victory

Drumreilly collected a brace of Division 5 points with a 3-7 to 0-7 win against St. Osnatt’s, Glencar on last Sunday, May 4th. Their next outing wil be a home game against Mohill.


The Kilmore Diocesan Pilgrimage to Lourdes will take place from 27th May to 1st June. Bookings for the Pilgrim Section are with McGinnity Travel, Cavan, and for the Assisted Pilgrim Section with Rev Kevin Fay, Lavey, Co. Cavan. Early booking is essential as places are limited. Tickets to support the Assisted Pilgrim Section are on sale. All support will be welcome.
