League: Arva had their first game in the League on Sunday last when they played Munterconnacht in the Brady’s Arva Division 2 Breffni League. This was a home game for Arva but was played on the Kingspan Breffni Park 3G pitch where short a number of players Arva were defeated by 3-13 to 1-11. On this Saturday Arva are away to Mountnugent at 3.30 pm again in the Breffni League. This year the League has been split into 2 sections with 9 games counting for promotion and relegation and 9 games in the Breffni League. Clubs will not have their County players for the Breffni League games but will have them for the promotion games. This was introduced so that games can still be played while the County team is in action and hopefully will prove successful. Congratulations are extended to Aoghán Farrell, Drumgoon, Co Cavan who is the first Cavan man to be elected Uachtarán Cumann Luithchleas Gael. Aoghán was elected at annual Congress on Friday night last in Croke Park with 170 vote out of a possible 311 votes with Seamus Howlin, Wexford 83 votes and Sean Walsh 57 votes. This is only the 4th time a man has been elected on the first count in his first attempt. Dr Mc Kenna Cup Final: Cavan played Tyrone on Wednesday night last in the Athletic Grounds, Armagh in the Final of the Dr Mc Kenna Cup. Unfortunately despite a great first half Cavan conceded a goal on the stroke of half time and eventually lost by 1-15 to 0-11. On this Sunday Cavan are away to Wexford in the Allianz League and the game will be played at 2.00 pm in O’Kennedy Park, New Ross. This is a long trip for the Cavan supporters but no doubt they will be there in big numbers to cheer their team on to victory and another step towards promotion. #thefutureisblue
