Our annual fundraising Christmas Draw was held in McElvaney’s Pub last Saturday night. The prize winners were as follows: 1 Hamper sponsored by McElvaneys Bar, Coolarty, Rosie Reynolds, Ballinalee; 2 Turkey sponsored by McBriens Londis Granard, Deirdre Devaney, Coolamber; 3 Ham sponsored by Kiernan’s Butchers, Granard, Alan Neilon, Finea; 4 Bottle of Brandy sponsored by Supervalu Granard, Ashling O’Hara, Toneywarden; 5 Bottle of Whiskey, Sinead Farrelly, Rathbracken. Numerous spot prizes were also up for grabs on the night. The club would like to sincerely thank all those who donated prizes for the main draw and the raffle. Our Senior B Championship Medals were also presented on the night by our club chairperson Mary McInerney and Mary Kiernan. Ciara Kelly was awarded Minor player of the year while Marie Martin received Senior player of the year. Congratulations to both girls on their achievement. Our management team of Micheal Gettings and Tommy McGivney were each presented with a beautiful crystal plaque as a token of appreciation for the effort and commitment they have given to our club over the past few years. A big thanks also to our musicians Elaine Reilly, Ashling Reynolds, Rachel and Bernice Masterson, Owen Gilchrist, Shane Kiernan, Sinead Finnegan, Aine Reilly and singers Grace, Sorcha and Erin Ross who provided a wonderful nights entertainment. A final thank you to the committee members on organizing the event and to all who supported it. We wish all our players, parents, supporters and community a very Happy Christmas.


Tonight, Wednesday will mark the final night of the annual novena which has ran for the past nine Wednesday nights in St. Mary’s, Granard and the Mass tonight will be offered for the happy repose of he soul of the late Mary Hynes, Ferriskil and for the continued consolation of her family. May she rest in peace.


Ballymore GAA club will hold the first of their draws on this Friday night, December 20th in McElvaney’s, Coolarty at 10-30pm and all are welcome to attend. The club wish to thank very sincerely all those who bought tickets for the draw this year and also thanks to all who sold the tickets. The executive of the club extend greetings to all for a very happy and peaceful Christmas and hope that 2014 will be good for all.


I take this opportunity to extend greetings to all readers of the Bunlahy notes for a very happy and holy Christmas and I sincerely thank all who provide me with notes throughout the year. To all who have to work or who will not be with their loved ones this Christmas, we send special greetings and to all who may be in hospital or unwell at home. We hope Christmas will be a safe time for all.

Longford Community Resources Ltd (LCRL) manage and administer the Rural Transport Programme, which covers the rural regions of County Longford.
