Table Quiz: On Saturday 16th March a table quiz in aid of St. Columbas G.F.C will take place in Keogh’s . We appeal to all supporters of the club to keep this night free. Perhaps invite some friends for the long weekend and let them test their skills against the local maestros. With some valuable prizes on offer tables of four are only 40. A night of entertainment and craic is guaranteed. Proceedings will get underway at 9.30p.m sharp.
Local Pitch: Over the past few months much renovation has taken place at ‘’The Laurels’’ which will be very beneficial to all concerned. On this Saturday 9th March it is planned to carry out some work on the new walking track. It would be very much appreciated if as many volunteers as possible would assemble at the entrance to the G.A.A grounds at 11.00 a.m. Please bring a rake or shovel along. Many hands make light work.
Appeal: St. Vincent De Paul Granard are delighted to announce the opening of their charity shop in Market St. near the library on Saturday 16th March at 12 midday. Everyone welcome to attend. Our branch caters for the needs of the people in the Granard, Abbeylara and Mullinalaghta areas. We would appreciate clothing, bric a brac etc. for the shop. Got An Idea: St. Columba’s N.S. Board of Management would like to invite you to put forward your ideas as to what should be done with our old school building. The building has recently been renovated, so we now need to get it up and running as a working building. All suggestions are welcome. If you would like to make a proposal as to what purpose it could serve, please write down your idea and post back or hand into the school.
Ladies Footballers: As part of their fundraising activities the local ladies football club are holding a weekly draw based on the bonus ball in the main draw of the national lottery. Sheets are on sale in local shops or are available from any club member. Match the bonus ball o n Saturday’s night you will earn yourself 20. Lines are just 2. Community Games: Abbeylara / Mullinalaghta community games have entered in the following events : Mixed basketball U 11, Boys basketball U 13, Girls basketball U 13, Boys futsal U 13, Girls futsal U 13 and U 10 mixed Gaelic football. The boys futsal games will be played on Saturday 23rd March in Kenagh community centre at 6.00p.m. The girls games will take place at the same venue and time on Sunday 24th March. The basketball matches will take place over the next few weeks with the finals being held in Kenagh on Sunday 24th March at 6.00p.m. Basketball and futsal training will take place over the next few weeks.
