Ardagh Tidy Towns: In the past few weeks a lot of the hard work carried out by the dedicated volunteers is becoming evident in the village and the surrounding areas. The Landscaping Group continues with the planting of beds and containers. Thanks to all for their efforts and to Frank for the beautiful benches which were placed in the graveyard and in the new community garden. The graveyard is looking very well due to the continued care and attention it receives every week. The villagers have been working very hard looking after the areas in front or near their houses keeping the grass cut and picking up the litter. As a community we need to work together to keep the village and surrounds litter free.

Tidy Towns: This group has been working away diligently to improve the visual amenity of the village. The aim of the cleanup group is to tidy, clean and remove visual nuisances from the area. A great effort is put in by this group of people who love to meet each week and tackle the weeds and rubbish in the neighbourhood. All involved are aware of the ecological importance of respecting nature, and all work is done by hand. This year, the group has been concentrating on making the walkways in the Neighbourhood Park safe and pleasant to use. A team of hardy people have thoroughly cleaned the paths of weeds, and removed many overhanging branches. It is hoped that during the winter season more tree management will take place. The next target is to plant up the stone containers in the Park, and carry out weeding and cleaning in the Village centre. The Heritage centre garden has been maintained, but more work is needed to ready it for Heritage week at the end of the summer. New volunteers always welcome. The Cleanup group meets every Monday at 7.30 pm, and so far the weather has not stopped the work. For further information please contact Susan Eades @ 087-6500896 or 043-6675910. All other new group volunteers contact 086-1219292. Don’t forget you can also support the Ardagh Tidy Towns by attending the bingo every Tuesday in the Community Centre at 9pm and/or buy the weekly lottery tickets which are only €2.
