On Saturday the 16th April next the bells of St Patricks Church Mohill will ring out to welcome the boys and girls from Mohill parish who will be confirmed by Bishop Colm O Reilly at 12 noon. We wish them and their families a very special day filled with joy and every blessing now and in the future.


The Canon Donohue Hall is one Hundred years old this year. A local committee are planning to print a commemorative book to mark this anniversary. They are looking for people to give some stories of the hall over the years, some old photos and other memorabilia. Her many friends and customers here in Mohill wish to join with me in sympathising with Mrs. Maura Baxter on the death of her dear mother Elizabeth Gilligan, Manorhamilton who died recently. To all who mourn Elizabethat this sad time we offer our deepest sympathy. Those we hold most dear, never truly leave us, they live on in the kindness they showed, the comfort they shared and the love they brought into out lives. May her gentle soul rest in peace.


All roads lead to Clarke’s Hotel Mohill on this Friday night 14th of April when dance lovers will come together to dance their cares away to the well known music of Curtis McGee. All are welcome.


On Thursday the 21st of April next there will be a table quiz in Fitzpatrick’s Ceílí House, Main Street at 9.30pm. Proceeds in aid of ‘The Friends of Belarus.’ This event is being organised by Padraic Higgins who is travelling to Onsk in Siberia with ‘The Friends of Belarus’ to carry out refurbishment works on a childrens hospital.

The Cloone Agriculture show committee are running a fundraising 25 card game in aid of Cloone Show in Fitzpatrick’s Céilí House Mohill on next Firday night 15th April at 9pm. Please support.


Mohill GAA wish to thank all who have supposrted the redevelopment of the GAA ptch to date. Work on the pitch is proceeding well and when completed it will be a great addition to the spoting facilities in the community. Any outstanding ticket stubs and monies collected should be returned to Gary Canning Club Secretary as soon as possible. Anyone wishing to be assoiated with the redevelopment of the pitch can purchase a ticket from Gary or any club member. The results of the lotto draw which took place in Casey’s on the 4th of April where the numbers drawn were 16, 19, 17, 26. There was no jackpot winner but lucky dip winners were as follows: 1st €70 Sean Kilrane, Drumboy, Mohill. 2nd €40 Des Creamer, Cloone Road, Mohill. 3rd €20 Patrick F. Kiernan, Drumlish.


Nest Sunday 17th of April is the beginning of holy week. There will be the blessing and distribution of palms at all masses. Easter confessions will be heard on Sunday the 17th in Cloone at 8pm, Monday 18th Aughavas 7pm, Gortletteragh 8pm, Wednesday 20th Fenagh 7pm and Mohill 8pm. ‘To ear is Human, To forgive is devine.’


The organising committee of Gorvagh Community centre wish to Thank all who attended the chéilí last week. It was a most enjoyable successful night, with everyone dancing to the light fantastic music of the Tara Céilí band. Again a big thank you to all.
