Lotto: The Arva Football Club Lotto draw was held in the Clubrooms on Tuesday, 3rd March 2015. The Jackpot was €8,100. Lotto envelopes can be left in the Letterbox in St Patrick’s Hall next to the National School for collection on Monday evenings and everyone is welcome to attend the draw. GAA: On Sunday last Arva travelled to Boyle Park, Drumgoon to play the home side in Round2 of the Breffni League but unfortunately the Referee didn’t turn up which was very disappointing for both teams.There is no game this weekend with the next one at home on 22nd March.


Kilmore Diocesan Pilgrimage to Lourdes will take place from 27th May to 1st June and Bookings for the Pilgrim Section should be made through the Diocesan Pastoral Centre, Cullies, Cavan. Bookings for the Assisted Pilgrim Section should be made with Fr Kevin Fay, Lavey, Ballyjamesduff, Co Cavan.

For the Arva Church of Ireland Parish Group – Sunday 15th March – Morning Prayer Service in Carrigallen and Columbkille at 10am and in Arva and Gowna at 11.30am.

St. Mary’s NS Centenary

The book committee are currently looking for old photos, stories, poems and memories from past pupils of the school. They are also looking for names of past pupils who became priests or nuns over the years. If you can help in any way, please contact the school on 049-4335560.

Table Quiz

St. Mary’s National School Parents Association are holding a Table Quiz on this Friday, 13th March at 8pm in the Breffni Arms Hotel. Teams of four - €40 per table. Please support this fundraiser as all proceeds will go towards Centenary Celebration projects. All welcome.

Show Society

Wish to thank everyone who supported their recent Table Quiz which was held in the Breffni Arms Hotel. The night was a great success raising much needed funds for this great annual event.


Sympathy is extended to Mrs Kathleen Doyle, Farrangarve, Arva on the death of her brother, Mr Thomas (Tommy) Grier, Drumgildra, Mohill, Co Leitrim which occurred on 12th February in Arus Carolan, Mohill. His remains were removed to Gortletteragh Church and following requiem mass celebrated by his brother Rev Matt Grier burial took place in the adjoining cemetery.


Continues in St Patrick’s Hall, Arva each Sunday night with €3,190 in prize money to be won each week - it is one of the biggest around – Eyes down at 8.30pm.

Arva Trotters meet at the Breffni Arms Hotel each Sunday at 11.15am and Thursdays at 8pm. Everyone welcome to join in.


Free Spirit Yoga group taking place each Thursday evening at 9pm and Saturday morning at 11am in the Memorial Hall, Arva. We welcome everyone from beginners to the advanced.

Line Dancing

The Breffni Kickers Line Dancing Classes continue each Thursday night in the Breffni Arms Hotel, Arva. Beginners at 8.30pm followed by the more advanced at 9.30pm. So get those dancing shoes ready for nights of fun and craic in a friendly atmosphere.


It’s all systems go for the 10th anniversary St Patrick’s Day Parade at 3pm in Arva on Tuesday next. There are large cash prizes for the best floats and there is no entry fee. The committee requests that a representative from each float leave details of the entry and nominate a person in charge of the float to the reviewing stand prior to commencing in the parade.  We would appreciate your co-operation.  The best dressed window prize of a beautiful engraved plaque has been kindly sponsored by Keith’s Centra Arva.  So now all you Arva folks get your windows dressed for the parade.

The Race Nite which was advertised for this Saturday 14th March has - due to unforeseen circumstances - been postponed. It will take place at a later date.

Special Olympics Ireland’s annual collection day, Friday 24th April - Volunteers Needed! Special Olympics Ireland urgently requires volunteers in the Cavan and Longford area’s to help with their charity Collection Day on Friday 24th April. Collection Day is the biggest annual fundraising event in aid of Special Olympics Ireland. The money raised on the day will be used to ensure that Special Olympics Ireland can continue to realise its promise of offering people with an intellectual disability the opportunity to participate in sport in their area. Drumeela Garden Club

Club meets on the second Wednesday of every month at 8:30pm in Teach Duchais, Drumeela, Carrigallen, Co Leitrim and everyone is welcome. Next meeting is on tonight Wednesday, 11th March. Guest speaker is Larry Lynch, renowned Landscape Gardener from Ballyconnell, Co Cavan. Larry will talk on Rose Pruning and Propagation and he will answer audience questions and discuss any gardening problems. Now is the time to prepare your garden for Spring and Summer and Larry’s timely advice will help you to get started. There will be a Special Offer on sale of heathers to attendees on the night. Everyone is welcome, especially new members.

Stars on the Night
