Longford/Galway wedding

On Saturday last, August 9th, St Mary’s church in Granard was the setting for a lovely wedding when Fr. Simon Cadam PP assisted by Rev. Seamus O’Rourke Deacon united Una, daughter of Sean and Mary McElvaney, Coolarty and Peter, son of Peter and the late Philomena Mullen of Glenamaddy Galway in holy marriage. Una had sister Barbara as her chief Bridesmaid and her friends Lucy O’Reilly and Olwen Murray were her bridesmaids while John Kearney was best man and David O’Malley and John McElvaney were groomsmen. The flower girl was Olivia Mullen and the page boy was Bernard Fahy. Sacred music in the church was by Una’s cousin Eileen Coyle and the ushers were Donal McElvaney and John Mullen. The readings were by Donal McElvaney and Enda Mullen and the gift bearers were Mary McElvaney and Maura Jones. Following the ceremony, the bridal party and their families and friends travelled to the Lough Rynn Castle in Mohill where they were treated to a beautiful meal and danced the night away to the great sound of Power Struggle followed by a disco. A great night was had by all and the after party was held in McElvaney’s on Sunday evening when all were treated to a lovely BBQ and brilliant music. We join with the McElvaney and Mullen families in wishing Una and Peter a long and happy life together.
