Motor Cycle Run
The Abbeyshrule classic motor cycle run will take place on Sunday next the 1st September commencing in Abbeyshrule village at 12 noon. All 50’s, 70’s, 90’s classic bikes and vintage bikes are welcome. The run will be approximately seventy miles. Refreshments will be served to all bikers on the day. Entry per bike is €20 and all proceeds will go towards the Carrickedmond/Abbeyshrule Defibrillator group.
The Carrickedmond GAA club are holding a fundraising draw which will take place in the Rustic-Inn Abbeyshrule on Friday night the 6th September. There are numerous prizes on offer including two All Ireland Hurling and two All Ireland football tickets. Tickets cost only €5 each and can be had from any player or committee member. For further details contact club secretary Maraide McDonnell or any club member.

Golden Wedding Anniversary
Congratulations to Peter and Elizabeth Farrell, Curreachean, who celebrated fifty years of married life together recently. The special occasion was marked by their family with a mass which was celebrated by Fr Tiernan PP Carrickedmond and afterwards the happy couple along with their extended family enjoyed a lovely meal in the Rustic-Inn Abbeyshrule. We all join and wish Peter and Elizabeth many more years of good health and happy married years together.
Pilgrimage to Knock
Will take place on Sunday next the 1st September. A bus from the parish will travel to Knock on Sunday next and will cost €16 per person. To book tickets please contact Fr Tiernan by this Wednesday 28th August. The bus will leave Abbeyshrule at 09:40am and Carrickedmond at 9:50am.
Please note that rehearsals for the Carrickedmond folk group have changed from Tuesday evening to Wednesday evening and will continue to take place in Carrickedmond church from 8:30pm to 9:30pm. Anyone who can play a musical instrument or who is interested in signing is welcome to come along. The first folk mass will take place in September and once a month there after.

To the Carrickedmond Intermediate team who play Rathcline in the semi final of the Intermediate championship on Sunday evening next in Pearse Park at 5:30pm. Supporters from the parish are urged to come along on the evening to cheer the team on.

The organising committee wishes to acknowledge the contribution from the Carrickedmond area to the recent auction in aid of St. Christopher’s in Legan. Apart from supporting the event on the night, people from the locality donated items for auction along with some cash donations. Well done to all.

Back to School
St Sinneachs NS in Colehill will re-open after the summer holidays on this Wednesday 28th August. We welcome all teachers and pupils back to the new school term and hopefully all settle back into school mode quickly. Secondary school pupils also return to school this week and we wish these boys and girls the best of luck also on their return to school for another year.
Is extended to the Ma Guire family Toome on the death last week of Kathleen McGuire who passed away in Newbrook Nursing Home. Kathleen’s remains were removed to Carrickedmond church for the funeral mass and the burial took place to Carrickedmond cemetery. To her husband Kevin daughter Susan and son Malcolm we extend our sincere sympathy. May she rest in peace.
