Credit Union Gowna sub office/Granard

Gowna credit Union sub office is 25 years in existence during May 2011. To celebrate this milestone a special draw of 100 euro X 4 will take place on Saturday evening 28th May for all members who carry out transactions during May. A draw of 25 euro will also be held for new members who join during May. Light refreshments will be served on Saturday evening 28th May from 6pm to 7.30pm. All members will also be included in the Granard credit union 30th anniversary celebration with draws held throughout the month. Celebrations concluded on Saturday 28th May with the normal members draw. 1 X 10,000 euro and 3 (500 euro) and junior members draw 1st prize a bike , 2nd & 3rd vouchers. New born baby members accounts open from May will be credited by 10 euro – this promotion is extended to the end of 2011. To promote the Granard Credit Union website on line quiz will take place – 5 questions can be done on line for the month of May. On Saturday 28th May all answers received will go into a special draw for a chance to win 30 euro X 3 prizes.

Death of Mrs Margaret Madden

It was with deep regret that we learned of the death of Mrs Margaret Madden (nee Martin) Sallaghan Loch Gowna Co Cavan on Monday May 2nd at her residence. Pre-deceased by her husband Willie in 2005 Margaret was a lady of great dignity and warm personality and will be sadly missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing her and especially by her loving family sons Liam Gerard Sean and Oliver. Daughters Marie Margaret Catheriona Rosaleen and Claire, sons in law daughters in law grandchildren nieces nephews relatives and friends to whom we offer our deepest sympathy. Her remains were removed from her residence on Wednesday evening to the Church of the Holy Family Loch Gowna and following requiem mass on Thursday morning at 11 am burial took place in adjoining cemetery. May she rest in peace.

Loch Gowna GAA

On Sunday 2nd May Loch Gowna GAA launched a book in Whites bar in acknowledgement and continued commitment of teams and committee members over the past 30 years. This book is on sale in local village shops. Following the launch of this book and official opening of new clubrooms and training pitch took place at Pairc Loch Gowna a match followed between Cavan and Longford with Longford winning by 1 point 2-9 to 3-5..
