St. Mel’s Cathedral

St. Mel’s Cathedral

Congratulations to the people of Longford on their beautifully-finished refurbished St. Mel’s Cathedral following the horrific fire on Christmas Day back in 2009, the various people who worked on the project in the last five years deserve great praise. The first Mass to be celebrated there since the fire, was held on Christmas Eve 2014 which was televised on RTE and many of you will no doubt have seen the programme. In the front row of the beautiful Church Choir which sang at that Mass, we saw Vera Corrigan, (nee McNamee), formerly from Drinan who has been singing with the Choir there for many years. Well done Vera.
