Saint Mel’s Conference of Longford Society of St. Vincent De Paul wish to thank all those who supported their annual Christmas appeal taken up at Saint Dominic’s Church, Kenagh. The appeal was very well supported with food parcels and gifts also financial aid. All gifts and donation have been distributed to needy families in the greater Longford area.


County Longford Social Services committee wish to thank most sincerely all who contributed so generously to the meals on wheels church gate collection recently. The amount collected was €342.

Winners in Saint Dominic’s Centre last Thursday night were Mary and Charlie, twelve games, they win €35 each. Joe and Brendan, Michael and John, ten games, they win €20 each. Table prizes: Michael and Simon, Annie and Kathleen, all win €20 each. Raffle: Bill Rodgers, Betty Geraghty, Tom Nohilly, Tom Connell, Niall Hughes and Anthony Lennon, all win €10 each.


The death has occurred of Margaret (Maggie) Farrell, Cloughan, Moydow on January 2nd. Maggie who was formerly Maggie Shanley, lived all her married life in Cloughan where she reared her family of three children, her son, the late Tony who pre deceased her and her daughters Ann and Eileen. She was in her ninety third year and lived a good healthy life until her age caught up with her in recent years. She was buried in Moydow cemetery after one o’clock mass in Moydow church on Sunday, January 4th. We offer our sincere sympathy to her daughters Ann and Eileen, relatives, friends and neighbours.

Back to School

With Christmas officially over on this Tuesday, January 6th, all the schools in the locality both primary and second level will be re-open on Wednesday January 7th. Also the Sticky Fingers crèche and preschool and mother and toddler group will re-open on this week.


To all I.C.A members our Kenagh guild will be holding our monthly meeting on Monday January 12th 2015 at 8.30pm, all members please attend.


We offer sincere sympathy to Brian Penrose, McHugh Park, Kenagh on the death of his father, Harry Penrose from Ballinacargy which occurred over the past week.


The numbers drawn in Kenagh GAA Lotto for January 4th were 11-15-16-30. There were two match three winners - Bernie and Maggie, c/o Margaret Farrell and Patricia Burke, Ballymahon, c/o Flanagans. They win €40 each.
