5km Run/walk

A 5Km run/walk/jog will take place on Sunday, 2nd November in the Village. For more details please see posters in village.

Baby boy

Congratulations to Gerard and Laura McVeigh, Newtownforbes on the birth of their baby son, Fionn. Grace and Jack are delighted with their new brother.

Station Mass

The month of October and November are traditionally the time for Stations Masses. Anyone who would like to host a Station Mass in their area, please contact Fr. Mc Govern.

All Souls November

All those from the parish who died since this time last year will be remembered in a special way at the vigil mass on Saturday November 1st. Candles will be lit in their memory and the families of the deceased will be invited to the mass. May they rest in peace. (Masses for the Holiday of All Saints are, Vigil: Friday at 7pm and Saturday at 11am.

Lucy and Peter Gallagher of Lismoy, together with family, friends and neighbours, would like to congratulate their son, Paul on his massive achievement in winning the JP & Noreen McManus All Ireland Scholarship 2014 Award.  Paul attended Moyne Community School and all his hard work has paid off.  Good luck for the future and we all wish you every success!


Congratulations to local Clonguish and County Hurler, Joe O’Brien who was presented with an award at the GAA All Star event at the weekend in Dublin and his inclusion on the Lory Meagher Champion 15 team 2014. Well done Joe.

Warmer Homes Scheme

Longford Warmer Homes provides free attic insulation, cavity wall insulation and energy advice to elderly and disadvantaged home owners throughout the county that meet certain criteria. Longford Warmer Homes also carries out work for the elderly as part of the Care & Repair Scheme. A reminder to check the Longford Warmer Homes Ltd website and facebook page to see if you are eligible for free Attic & Cavity insulation before the winter rush sets in. Call 043 3393255 Longford Warmer Homes have now a dedicated Facebook page to help get the word out that this free insulation service is available to those that qualify for it.


Pre Christmas Craft Fair

A pre Christmas craft fair will be held in the GAA complex, Newtownforbes on Sunday, 23rd November from 11-4pm in aid of Pieta House. There is a wide variety of crafters attending and a tremendous day is expected. A selection of goods available on the day include- wood products, preserves, knitting, crochet, patchwork, painting, jewellery, books, clothing, tupperware. forever living products as well as cake stands, cards & floral arrangements to name but a few! There will also be a raffle for a hamper as well as a big selection of other prizes on the day. There is a very limited numbers of tables left so if anyone would like to have a table please contact Ann Devlin on 087 9248816 for further information.

Prayer Meeting

Divine Mercy prayer meeting in St Mary’s parish church, Newtownforbes every Monday at 3pm. Special prayers include the Chaplet and Novena of the Divine Mercy, prayer of Concentration to the Divine Mercy and St Faustina’s Station of the Cross. All are welcome and bring a friend.
