There was widespread sorrow with the news of the death following a short illness of Mr Benny Shiels, Kilsarn, Loughduff. A highly respected resident, deceased was a kind and helpful neighbour and the news of his death was received by the community with widespread regret. To his brothers, Sonny, Michael and Phil, nieces, nephews, relatives and countless friends, I extend the sympathy of our community. The funeral which was of very large dimensions and a clear indication of the esteem with which the deceased and his family are held throughout the region took place following requiem mass in St Joseph’s Church, Loughduff to the family burial ground. Canon Owen Devaney PP Mullahoran officiated.
