World Autism Day

World Autism Day takes place on Wednesday, April 2nd. St. Mary’s National School, Edgeworthstown, will be celebrating the day with a coffee morning for parents at 11.15 and a blue balloon release at 12 noon. St. Mary’s NS has four classes for children with Autism including a preschool. Parents of children with autism will be available to talk to you, so it would be appreciated if you could send a reporter/photographer on the day.

Midlands Shotokan Karate

This weekend Sunday, 6th April, the Midlands Open Karate Championships will take place in St Mary’s Community Campus Hall in Edgeworthstown. Doors open at 9.30am and competition starts at 10am. Anybody may take part regardless of age or grade. If any student would like to enter they must have entered by Friday, 4th April. Karate classes continue as normal in Edgeworthstown 11am – 12pm every Saturday in St Mary’s Hall. For more information regarding the class or the upcoming competition call Ciaran on 083 306 8331.

Ploughing Association

Everyone is welcome to our Press night this Thursday, 3rd April at 8.30pm in the Park House Hotel. Join us for refreshments, meet our sponsors and discover what’s in store at this special 80th Ploughing, hosted by James and Harry Reynolds, Cranleybeg, on Sunday 13th April. Don’t forget May 4th – official pitch opening is happening on that day. There was no jackpot winner in the last Lotto draw. Numbers drawn were 5, 17, 18, 26. Twenty-five euro winners were Martin Gilchrist, Aughafin; Tom Murtagh, Ardagh; Raymond Grehan, Sean Nolan, Devine Crescent.

Killeen Dramatic Society

Killeen Dramatic Society Reunion play “The Maiden Aunt”. A three act comedy written by Streete native, Jimmy Keary. The cast are putting the finishing touches to rehearsals and a great nights entertainment is anticipated when the curtain goes up for the opening night on Thursday next, April 10th in the Granard Community Centre followed by a second showing on Friday, April 11th with admission adults €10 and children €5.

County Fleadh

Entries for the Co. Fleadh will be taken on Saturday, 5th April from 1pm until 3pm in The Pavillion on the Green. This will be the one and only day for entries.

District Development Association Ltd.

Edgeworthstown District Development is holding an Easter Draw. First prize Luxurious Hamper, 2nd prize Goodies Hamper, 3rd prize Wine and chocolates and 4th prize, selection of Easter Eggs. All proceeds will go to Edgeworthstown District Development. Cards on sale in the Post Office and local businesses in the town.

Community House

Edgeworthstown Strategic Planning Group are opening a new Community House at number 43 Clover Well, Edgeworthstown. The opening will take place on Saturday 5th April at 12 Noon. All are welcome.

White Collar Fight Night

Wolfe Tones Hurling Club are hosting a fundraising fight night in St. Mary’s Community Centre on Saturday, April 12th at 8.30pm. There will be a full bar on the night and tickets are on sale at €10. Please support your local boxers.
