Low Cost Counselling Service

“Life is not what it is supposed to be, it is what it is. The way you cope with it is what makes the difference”. (Virginia Satir). Problems crop up in life that may leave people unable to manage. Trying to cope with this stress on our own can be tiresome. People often find that they just need someone to listen, without making judgments or giving advice. Many people have found counselling to be helpful and rewarding. At the Bridgeways Family Resource Centre in Ballymahon, the counsellor does not criticize or judge. The counsellor provides a safe and confidential space for you to explore, discover and clarify ways of living more agreeable. This is a Low Cost Counselling Service now available costing €10 per service. Take the first step by contacting Melissa on 085 1648632.

Death of Anne Skelly

It was very much with deep regret that we learnt of the sad death on March 23rd last of Mrs Anne Skelly (nee Collins), Glebe, Colehill and native of Dublin. A lovely, quiet lady, Anne was only in her late ‘fifties when she passed away peacefully at her home where she lives with her husband Michael, following her battle with her illness. She was a member of Ballymahon Writer’s Group and wrote many short stories and only three years ago wrote her debut novel “Foolish Pride” which was a great success, she was also shortlisted for many literary awards and competitions over the last few years. Ann was very involved in the local Goldsmith International Literary Summer School, Ballymahon Dramatic Society and many other adult education groups, schools, writers groups and libraries. She instilled her love for writing on a huge number of people in the county and everyone in the literary world loved her back, everyone had a great admiration for her, she will be sadly missed by her family, neighbours and wide circle of friends. Following her Funeral Mass in Carrickedmond on Tuesday last, Anne’s remains were cremated at Mount Jerome. Our sincere sympathy is extended to her husband Mike, stepdaughters, relatives and friends. May she rest in peace.

Congratulations to Pat Hughes and Andrew Nally who were winners at the recent Murray’s Golf Society Outing at Longford Golf Club. Well done lads.
