This year 2014 is the one hundredth anniversary of the outbreak of the first world war. Ballymahon Leo Casey History are making plans to record the event later this year. Nine men from Ballymahon and seven from Kenagh were killed during the following four years alongside many more from neighbouring parishes. Many more signed up and were lucky to survive the slaughter and come back to tell the tale. With this event in view the group hope to talk to descendants of those who took part and to borrow any documents , photos or artifacts relating to the war to put them on display at a central location in Ballymahon. All items loaned will be carefully minded and returned. More on this later.
